Good player but can't quite see who's place he's going to take in either the first 11 or the second 11.

Haven't seen enough of him to pass judgement. Will definitely keep an eye out on him when Charlton plays in live matches.

we would go for this guy with Makalele and Geremi signed to fill the holding role for the next few years.

Would this player be worth an American style trade for Carlton Cole?

I would rather keep Cole in the team. This is due to speculation that Petit might be leaving.

He's a good player but not in Chelsea's league.

Chelsea is not in a league of its own yet. If we were, Parker wouldn't even be in the picture. Anyways, players develope when they play alongside the best, Lampard went through that stage in his career.

If Parker has the talents and the right mindset, he'll go far with us IF the rumour turns out to be true.

Lampard developed by playing with better players. If Parker joined he wouldn't play.

You already have Lampard, Veron, Cole, Makalele, Geremi, Petit in central midfield, one more will only make things worse.

Do you mean Carlton or Joe Cole?

I think Carlton may be a 'developing situation' so to speak. I wouldn't even consider trading Joe Cole at all. He could be the next big thing in English football.

Who cares about whether he can even make the bench. Lets just buy a couple good players from every club and then immediately loan them right back to them. Then lets put a clause in every contract that says they cant play against us.

And no, I am not being serious.

A good player will filter through the ranks even though the ranks seems to be bloated as it is.

Methinks the problem with signing Parker would be keeping all the players happy. Of course we can all say that it will breed competition but there must be a point that we have too much competition and several good players are not getting a look, most importantly good young players.

I started a thread called 'Too many good squad players' for precisely this point. I think we may be in danger of getting too many blokes who are good enough for the squad but who don't improve the first team.

I don't like to quote myself but, well... OK I will.

<i>'My point is that if we were going to buy Zidane, say, it would be worth tinkering with a successful mid-field formula, (once we found out what it is), but I don't think it's worth changing the back 4 for Lucio for example.'</i>

For Lucio, read Parker and the mid-field.
