MLS Eastern Conference Standings after Round 28.

Eastern Conference GP W L T PTS GF GA
Chicago Fire 28 14 6 8 50 47 34
MetroStars 28 11 8 9 42 37 33 New England Revs 28 10 9 9 39 48 44
D.C. United 28 10 10 8 38 35 32
Columbus Crew 28 8 12 8 32 35 40

Obviously The Fire will win the East as the top side.
For Metro to secure 2nd place and have the home field aggragate advantage they must do one of two things against the Revolution these final two saturdays.

#1 They must win this Saturday to secure homefield for MLS Cup Quarters.

#2 If they Draw this Saturday and win on October 25th they secure homefield for MLS Cup Quarters.

#3 If the last two matches end in Draws they can secure Home field for MLS Cup Quarters.

New England can take over 2nd place with a win & a draw because of the seasonal record. If the Revs lose one of the two matches against the Metro They will either stay in 3rd or if DC wins could be knocked down to 4th and face the Fire.

DC United has two home matches remaining. Sunday against Columbus and next Saturday against Kansas City. The only way they can take 3rd place is if New England loses both matches and DC wins both, or a win & Draw. Also if New England loses both and DC draws their last two matches DC can leap frog over the Revs.

For the pre-season Eastern Conference favorite pick Columbus Crew. It's all over. One loss will make it official that they will be hitting the golf course a.s.a.p.

So basically if standings remain or if it changes a little. We all know that the Crew will not be apart of these changes. All that matters is which of the bottom two will take on the Fire and the Metro.
