What do you like more.

Since a few years I find the Uefa Cup more interesting than the Champions League. In the CL there are since the big money came, about 10 (rich) teams that can compete with eachother, and they become better than the rest by buying all the good players.
And then you get boring matches like Liverpool-Chelsea 0-0 0-1 one lucky goal or so. The poor teams like Romanian or Greek champions are allowed to play in the Cl to fill in the groups. They have no chance against the biggest teams, maybe with luck they win a match against a top team, while they have good players in their country. (because of this I support Zenit a little bit, with almost all Russian players)

In the Uefa cup you have the teams with less money, with a number of players from their own country, in oldskool stadiums with that great atmosphere, and most of the time they are unpredictable, with scores of 5-4 or 3-3.

( I think the best is to go back to the old style.
Champions can go to the Champions League
Cup winners go to the EC2
the runner ups go to the uefa cup
So then the National Championship becomes more important again, nowadays the teams in England play to be at the best 4. )

I prefer the Champions League even though teams from the league that I follow have little chance of winning it. The UEFA Cup has too many teams in it and too many meaningless games. I find the 32 team group stage of the Champions League very easy to get into and the UEFA Cup I cant really get into until after the group stage is over and it hasnt even started yet ! I just follow the teams from my league until after the group stage is over then I try to follow the whole competition. The 32 team Champions League group stages are more exciting.

Nothin' beats the Champions League. When a Champions League game is in its prime, IE the 2005 final, nothing beats it.

As an over all soccer fan i like the Champions league but not more then Uefa because Uefa is always great to see new teams u probably never heard of and watch players that in a few years and go back and see them in a big club and u can say u saw them play when no one knew them and you saw they had talent its different because champions league is always the same clubs now a days Uefa is very diverse every year there are more suprises in Uefa then in Champiosn league

Champions league every day of the week and twice on Sunday. Anyone that says they prefer the UEFA Cup is lying.

Champions League.

The UEFA Cup usually produces more remarkable matches. You probably have to go back over 3 years the last time anything incredible happened in the CL. But the UEFA Cup is too "ho-hum, who cares?" from August up until the quarterfinals to get my vote.

I'd say the UEFA Cup but then I'm a Spurs fan!

I enjoy seeing various stadiums, historic clubs, players on the up, attacking play & not knowing who will win.

I think playing quarter final in CL is better than playing final in UEFA Cup. Also playing semi final in CL is more important than UEFA Cup winning.

Seeing that the UEFA cup is contested by teams that were eliminated at the group stages of the Champions League + couldn't make the last 16, I can't really take it that seriously. It really seems like a 17th place match compared to the champions league.

that is not true. the numbers 2-5 or numbers 3-6 from countries like portugal germany holland france russia compete also.
and to the other posting, in the super cup the last years the uefa cup winner did better than the champions league winner, this year zenit played around with manutd.

but since the UEFA let so much teams from one country in the champions league, the champions league, and more, the uefa cup lost his charme.

Yes it is true, like it or not. Last years Euro cup final was contested by two teams that went out in the champions league first round. It was literally a 17th place playoff for the CL.

I am sorry to tell you that Zenit st.Petersburg had to qualify for the Uefa Cup.
actually only 3 from the 8 quarter finalists came from the champions league in the 3rd round.

Champion's League is sweet, because it's all the big teams.

But UEFA Cup _always_ has an upset newcomer team step up and make it to at least the Quarters, and the football is always far more 'clashing', ie. two different styles.

And it is more swashbuckling, so to speak :p

And I like how in the QF there is always like 5-6 different countries playing each other (note: different styles), but CL, its like 3-4 max.

uefa cup: not perfect, but still often very exciting.

champions league: definition of flash over substance. the epitome of everything wrong with football today. The extortionist's (FIFA) showpiece tournament (or should i say profit generator).

It's pathetic. All the glory hunting clubs and their pathetic "supporters" think it's some kind of achievement to simply participate in the champions league, (despite getting destroyed by the likes of Barca year in, year out)

I forget the numbers, but I think Zenit were giving 8m euros for winning the UEFA Cup when those who qualify for the 1/4 finals of the Champions League get 14m. Is this true? Close enough..

Point is, the money goes to these super clubs like Real Madrid, (Big 4 in England), AC Milan, Spartak Moscow, Dynamo Kiev , etc etc..... and helps them continue their domination of the domestic front, which in turn helps them qualify for the CL again next year.

What a ********ing joke and a shame to football. If you want to see a bunch of diving overpaid ********** being flashed by 100 Japanese photographers sitting behind Heineken signs, well go ahead and watch that shit. utter shit.

When I see it I can't help think the target audience is Asia and not any real fans. Am I watching American Idol or a ********ing football matCH!?

I'm hoping Bate Borisov lights up the tournament. But even that won't necessarily save it.

Good bye and good night. -12:42AM

Yes it is really a joke, where is football going, if Atletico Madrid!! outplays the dutch champion like they are an amateur team. It's all money money money, with the rich teams getting richer so that it is more likely for top players from holland to go to madrid, manchester etc.

I love the days that the Romanian champion could beat the spanish champions over 2 matches. But when all the Romanian players go to the teams with the €€€€, than they have no chance.

I guess by this logic Belmont students and alumni should have been pissed they were selected to play in the NCAA tourney as a 15th seed for the 3rd year in a row instead playing in an inferior tournament against a bunch of also rans.
