Update: Stuttgart striker Mario Gomez insists it is only a matter of time before he joins one of Europe's "top clubs", after twice seeing the Bundesliga side turn down offers for him, according to Setanta Sports.
Analysis: The Germany international was targeted by Bayern Munich early in the summer, but Stuttgart scuppered a deal when one looked close to completion. Manchester City also put in a late bid on transfer deadline day but failed. Gomez is confident he will be playing his trade on a higher stage before too long.
