Brazillian forward Rivaldo has hinted that if his position at AC Milan hasn't been sorted out by January then he might try and resurrect a move to The Lane.

The 31 year-old was released by the Serie A club last week and then taken back following a spot of supporter protest, vowing to fight for his place in the team. At the time he was said to be shamelessly wooing Chelsea into offering him a deal, quoted at the time as saying : "At Chelsea it would be very easy for me to fit in quickly because there are already so many stars, some of whom I know directly."

He refutes those claims however, and looking to set the record straight retorted : "I was ready to leave Milan but the president and the supporters asked me to stay so I did and now I'm waiting for an opportunity to show my best, that's what I'm hoping for.

"But the stories which were published here in England about me and Chelsea were untrue. I never gave any interviews regarding Chelsea and I never talked to anybody at Chelsea."

In England for Brazil's friendly with Jamaica at the Walkers Stadium this afternoon the forward admitted that although he's still hoping to find favour at the San Siro he would consider a move to the Premiership in January if he's still out in the cold : "If my situation has not changed in Milan by December, I would consider at an English club.

"There was an offer from Tottenham when I was leaving Spain to go to Milan and at the time I chose to go to Milan because of Milan's history and their tradition in the world of football.

"We won the Champions League at Milan last season but I played very few matches so maybe the Tottenham offer can be renewed again.

"The only letter I ever wrote to a club was the one I wrote to Tottenham because they made a very nice approach to me and they were very correct, so I felt I should explain why I was choosing to go to Milan.

"I know Tottenham are not among the biggest clubs in England but they are considered a very good club to play for, a nice place to play."

Since joining Milan he has started just 22 League matches, scoring 5 goals...there was the Champion's League win to savour however.

No thanks Rivaldo, he was a great player but his best years are behind him and we'd just be one last pay cheque if no-one else is interested. Saying that it would still be a fascinating signing :D

No thanks. Rivaldo is a prima dona and a horrible role model for all of the youth in the club. He is exactly what we need to avoid. And, his wages are rediculously high. The only problem is, that he also has talent, and sometimes the prospect of short term success seduces managers into bringing in cancers like Rivaldo. He was awesome at Barcelona ... and they still let him go. Just imagine how he'd be at Spurs. No thanks, take your whinning, flopping arse elsewhere.

Well either report you read, it seems he's interested but it's very debateable if we still are. He'd be great publicity and very exciting, but now we've successfully switched to 4-4-2 I can't really see an obvious place for him in the team. There's no way he's taking Keano's place as the second striker floating in behind Kanoute. So that really only leaves left midfield.

Either way I think it's clear that he would want a fortune in wages, but we could afford it and maybe the sale of Rivaldo merchandise and the boost to our overseas profile would make it financially worthwhile. Also it might make it a lot easier to attract other talented players to the club.

Personally I think it's worth listening and negotiating with him, but at the moment he needs us more than we need him, so we shouldn't agree to anything less than a good deal for us.

Don't make someone a priority, if you're one of their only options.

No THFC avatar. My first match ever was to see them in Greece, because my father is Greek. Tottenham is still my club, relax.
