Brazillian forward Rivaldo has hinted that if his position at AC Milan hasn't been sorted out by January then he might try and resurrect a move to The Lane.
The 31 year-old was released by the Serie A club last week and then taken back following a spot of supporter protest, vowing to fight for his place in the team. At the time he was said to be shamelessly wooing Chelsea into offering him a deal, quoted at the time as saying : "At Chelsea it would be very easy for me to fit in quickly because there are already so many stars, some of whom I know directly."
He refutes those claims however, and looking to set the record straight retorted : "I was ready to leave Milan but the president and the supporters asked me to stay so I did and now I'm waiting for an opportunity to show my best, that's what I'm hoping for.
"But the stories which were published here in England about me and Chelsea were untrue. I never gave any interviews regarding Chelsea and I never talked to anybody at Chelsea."
In England for Brazil's friendly with Jamaica at the Walkers Stadium this afternoon the forward admitted that although he's still hoping to find favour at the San Siro he would consider a move to the Premiership in January if he's still out in the cold : "If my situation has not changed in Milan by December, I would consider at an English club.
"There was an offer from Tottenham when I was leaving Spain to go to Milan and at the time I chose to go to Milan because of Milan's history and their tradition in the world of football.
"We won the Champions League at Milan last season but I played very few matches so maybe the Tottenham offer can be renewed again.
"The only letter I ever wrote to a club was the one I wrote to Tottenham because they made a very nice approach to me and they were very correct, so I felt I should explain why I was choosing to go to Milan.
"I know Tottenham are not among the biggest clubs in England but they are considered a very good club to play for, a nice place to play."
Since joining Milan he has started just 22 League matches, scoring 5 goals...there was the Champion's League win to savour however.
No thanks Rivaldo, he was a great player but his best years are behind him and we'd just be one last pay cheque if no-one else is interested. Saying that it would still be a fascinating signing :D
