On Thursday afternoon, I journeyed to the print shop.
I required an A3 colour print of a landscape poster I had designed.
“One A3 colour print of the psd document entitled ‘Poster Nine’, please,” as I handed over the flashdisk to the employee – one who has worked in the very same shop for at least 2 years now.
She looked puzzled as the machine emitted the white A3 page, with a small copy of the poster, taking up just a third of the page, in portrait.
She repeated the process. Same Result. Bordering on insanity now.
And so I say, and point, and direct, as I peer around the computer monitor, “You need to go to Page Setup, and choose ‘landscape’.”
“But it needs to fit the whole page,” she answers.
“Yes, I know. First push ‘OK’ under Page Setup, and then click ‘Scale to Fit Media’,” I said.
She returns from the machine. I get what I want. Eventually.
The cost:
-R10 download fee to stick the flashdisk into the computer.
-R15 print fee.
-Total: R25.
The same product can be obtained at University for R1,90.
AND I CONCLUDE:
One finds oneself commonly criticising others throughout the day. Generally, this criticism is unwarranted, as it usually falls into a clash of subjective perspective and point of view – of which, one can never say is wrong or right.
HOWEVER, a certain level of competence is required in one’s field of work. A level of pride is required to. Why do I, the customer, need to tell the employee, who has held the same simple job for at least 2 years, how to carry out the simplest of tasks?
In such an extended period of time, not only is competence required, but specialisation is expected.
A line of work holds a set of conventional standards.
A lack of attempt at specialisation is slothful.
For one, in this field of work, not to be able to meet standards is inexcusable.
Strong criticism of such an employee is therefore solidly vindicated.

I've got a beef with verizon. My family paid something like $500 for phone service last month because we switched contracts and they still charged us for the old one while charging for the new one. and they've been very unclear when they plan to re-fund us. the storm=shit also.

That's why my family dumped them 2 years ago. Hate their pricing, and they way the can screw people over with overages and other things.
My mate got charged over $300 for his texting when was supposed to have the unlimited or w/e verizon has with texts..Anyways they added that, but still made him pay..

...and what about smokey bacon flavour micro chips from mccains!!!!!
I got beef with my nextdoor neighbour, but had a win this past week. He'd apparently been calling the cops on me for over a month coz I always park to deliberately block his garden (the shizzmeister pulled down a tree with a preservation order on it and turned it into a car-park for his shop without planning permission, so I do it to fudge wid him and feel justified doing so). Anyways, so I'd got a parking ticket from the local rozz-squad, but not from traffic wardens - as I wasn't parked on any enforceable parking markings so it was just coz the police had been getting all these complaints. Anyways, so the cop who ticket me had sneakily wrote the tcket out but not put it on the system, and put his card thru my door, and coz I rang him back and was reasonable he agreed not to put ticket thru so long as I made sure to keep my nose clean so he wouldn't get my cnut neighbour calling to complain daily.
Still gotta pursue the whole matter thru the civil courts, but it did seem like a victory as basically the authority were like "yea he's a twat, don't put urself in a position whereby he can get you in trouble".

Not a real beef, but I do got issue with Orange's network going down for pretty much the whole evening! Bad enough my Blackberry *ahem* "is faulty" (almost as if someone threw it on the floor :o almost...) but if i don't get my other fone working then they can't call me to arrange replacing my bizzle....and quite frankly this has seriously cock-blocked the foundations I'd been laying for a jumpoff this evening.....

Hi there,
I'm looking for some boot advice.
I currently own 3 pairs of Powerswerves, 2 pairs of Copa Mundials, a pair of the F50.8 Tunits, along with 7 uppers, 6 pairs of Puma V1.08's, and 3 pairs of SL's.
My Copas fit me best, but my teamates thought my Tunits match best with my kit, even though they've been giving me blisters.
I don't actually want any more boots, but my teammates are well impressed everytime they see my new boots, and that makes me happy for a while. I don't play often enough to wear all the boots, but I earn enough money to buy them, therefore it is vindicated, despite my fueling of consumerism, and the numerous kangaroos that are killed for my K-leather boots. But then again, Kangaroos are a nuisense and pesk, and there are too many of them...like when they jump in front of my parents' fancy BMW X5. The damn thing dented our irreplacable car. It got its just-rewards by dying though.
So, what new boots on the market do you think I should buy? I have enough money for 3 pairs this month.
Thanks in advance!

lol. sad thing is, some people actually have the pairs you listed off... I get one new pair a year for Christmas, and then use my summer work money to buy used ones. It's not like the thousands of dollars people spend on boots could go to charity, or actually be used for something some one else needs. That'd just be crazy.
