Pleasant Surprise

I came across an unexpected surprise just 15 minutes ago or so. Not long enough left in the game to send out an alert. Turns out FCD was on Telemundo this afternoon, playing a friendly against America. And when I turned it on, Jamie Watson was getting a lot of time on the ball.

Got to watch the last 15 minutes (Dallas won 2-1, now why the hell couldn't they play like that in MLS?), and Jamie split a couple defenders one time and generally showed pretty well, including some good chances on goal. He was playing left mid. To end the game, he and Oduro did a little timewasting on the sidelines, and it pissed off the Agilas enough that one of them gave him a solid crack on the back with his elbow. Looked like he was OK, but the America player got red carded... after the near melee which Kenny Cooper started by coming in to defend Tintin.

Anyway, just happy to see our boy playing, even if it's just a friendly. The Hoops keep sucking in MLS, and maybe Jamie will get a chance in a regular season game.

Yep. Jamie Watson came in the 65th minutes and his first touch was from Oduro (who had an awesome game) inside the box but Jamie wasn't able to control the ball and shot it over the goal. Otherwise it was a decent but not spectacular game for him.

Now that's just adding insult to injury. I knew they were playing that game yesterday, though I wasn't sure what time. It wasn't being televised, according to FCDallas.net's little "upcoming match" widget (where it will usually list "FSC", "ESPN" or "MLSNet.tv", etc.). Then I happened across another story that said it would be on "Azteca America" (now THAT'S a channel Rawlins should partner with, btw! ;)), and I thought, hmmm, that sounds familiar. Sure enough, that's channel 14!

Ran over, turned on the TV, and there were the Hoops on the field! Rejoiced for approximately 3 seconds, until I realized it was the end of game highlights. It was 6:00 straight up; the game had just ended.

SO. Bad enough I missed the game. Worse still that I missed Dallas winning (something they haven't been doing much lately). But to find out I also missed Watson's debut with the first team?!
