Motored up to Montreal to see a match Friday, and low and behold...Saputo Stadium was sold out !!
Who would have thought??
I had assumed it would be like an Expoes game, plenty of great seats to be had at any game !!!
Does not appear they are set up for internet ticket sales yet.
Hope they add some seats if they keep selling out.
At least the kids were good about my faux-pas and settled for Chinese food.

I am not a hardcore Impact supporter by no means, so correct me if I am wrong, but I think the Impact usually have a 1000 seats or more left for just about every game. I think the problem lies in the fact that there was an international game the next night and a lot of fans who came into Montreal might have picked up both games, hence causing the sellout.
However, the Impact have always been doing well in terms of attendance.

Officially they announce just about each game as a sell out. In reality it's usually more like 9000 people or so out of 13000 capacity.

I suppose they dump a few thousand tickets on the local soccer associations?

9,000 would mean that the stadium is 70% full (or 30% empty).
I'd say usual attendance is closer to 10,500-11,000. Last night's Canada game had 12,300 in attendance (not tickets sold) and it looked much more packed than any Impact game.

I'm basing my numbers purely on my own speculation. The team almost always announces either a sell out or somewhere around 11-12 thousand tickets sold. Now by pure common sense it would indicate that every single ticket holder did not show up. Either way, 10,000 is more than some MLS teams.

Yeah, put an MLS team in Montreal and that should peak people's interest even more, I could see them doing well with a 16,000 seat stadium.

As far as I remember, they built the stadium specifically so that it could be expanded to 22,000 (my estimate) should MLS come calling.
I personally can't see why not. If the stadium continues to fill up, or close to it. The league would have a ready made rivalry in the Toronto-Montreal matches, which would probably equal the Chivas-Galaxy one right now.
