Michael Phelps is not a good actor. The Palin/Hilary cold open was funny though.

I just finished watching the episode off of my HD-DVR.
Michael Phelps did about as well as most athletes who've hosted SNL before.
The episode was pretty funny for the most part, particularly the Palin/Hilary cold open you mentioned. :)

Anybody know where I could find an online video of last night's weekend update?

I saw only one skit, and it was so mind-numbingly bad that I did not watch another. I thought, they've had all this time to think of ideas and this is all they come up with - a swim coach dancing to inspire his team? A silly song is the big funny?
Perhaps I'll join Demosthenes and just watch WU on the web instead of trying for the show.

The cold open was good, and Weekend Update was funny. Everything else was shit.

SNL stopped being funny a while ago, it's time they retire the show. Last nights ep was terrible, I could only watch about an hour then I had to change the channel. I though the point of the show was to make you laugh, they clearly fail in that category.

I thought last night's episode was pretty funny. Not amazingly great or anything - but the way people badmouthed last week, I was expecting crap. I found it amusing. (Of course I never watch past weekend update).
The opening Sarah Palin sketch had me in stitches.

The next new episode's host on either October 11th or October 18th (depending on whether the show's website or the announced date during the last episode is correct) will be Josh Brolin with musical guest Adele.

As well as the Mary Poppins "Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious" sketch. :D

The next new episode of SNL (Oct 25) will feature Don Draper as host and Sarah Palin as Tina Fey's caricature of Sarah Palin.
Actually, that ended up being partially true:
The "next" new episode was on Oct. 18 and had host Josh Brolin with musical guest Adele. However, it did have Sarah Palin, as well as Tina Fey, Mark Walhberg and Alec Baldwin.
Meanwhile, this coming Saturday's host will be Jon Hamm (a.k.a. Don Draper) with musical guest Coldplay.
