I read some where that Bayern was Hitler's favorite club and the pride of Nazis. Is any of this true? Does Bayern Munich have links to the Nazis?

Thanks for your thoughts and time.

No. Actually they can claim that they had less ties to the Nazis than many other clubs (although they were defenitely not openly anti-NS).

Why was Schalke the pride of the Nazis?

Nice to hear from Bundesliga fans that actually LIVE in Germany.

Read this book.

http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/ASIN/0954013433/202-5943580-5248649

It has all the information you need. It's a good read. I got my Sepp Herberger quote from the book.

The Nazis linked Schalkes success to the rise of the Nationalsocialist movement in their propaganda (Schalke were a worker's club that won their first championship in 1933/34, one year after the Nazis came to power and totally dominated soccer in the Third Reich).
