ROBERTO MANCINI,has had some success, used to high profile ego's,could bring some real talent to the club(dont mean bird's stomp)

Is he any relation to Henry?;) personally I'd like to see 'Arry back, but it probably wouldn't happen.

I wouldn't be surprised if it was Allardyce. I don't see a foreign manager, except possibly Bilic. But unless they give whomever it is full responsibility (for a while at least), they'll have trouble getting a decent boss.

The name nobody knows as very short odds is Davide Ballardini, former coach of Cagliari, which has to be Nani's choice.

I heard that the bookies have Bilic as favourite and 'Arry as second.

Any noise from Trevor 'he doesn't score many with his head you know' Brooking?

Latest odds, apparently:

Slaven Bilic 5/2
The Croatia manager is the popular choice for most fans but reports claim he has pledged to stick with his national team until after the World Cup. The argument from fans who don’t want Bilic is that he ditched the club for Everton after just over a year there as a player and would do the same as a manager.

Francesco Guidolin 8/1
The Italian coach was in charge of Palermo when they knocked West Ham out of the UEFA Cup two years ago and reportedly turned down the chance to take over at QPR last October. He is one of a number of Italians linked with the club because of the influence of technical director Nani.

Davide Ballardini 8/1
Worked a mini-miracle at Cagliari last season, taking over in December when the club were rock bottom and five points from safety and finishing four places and six points above the relegation zone. Failed to agree on a new contract this summer so is currently a free agent.

Harry Redknapp 12/1
West Ham have never appointed a manager from outside the UK and former boss Redknapp is the only leading contender from Britain. It seems unlikely that Redknapp would leave UEFA Cup football at Portsmouth for a club whose financial situation is unclear.

Paolo Di Canio 14/1
Di Canio is a hero to most West Ham fans and has spoken in the past about how he would love to return to the club one day as manager. However he doesn’t have any experience as a coach and while it might prove a crowd-pleasing move, it would be a huge risk.

Roberto Mancini 14/1
Another Italian. Mancini is the best qualified of all the leading contenders having won Serie A with Inter Milan in each of the last two seasons. However, why he would consider returning to management with a mid-table Premier League club who aren’t investing in new players is anyone’s guess.

Gianluca Nani 14/1
Nani is the recently appointed technical director figure at West Ham who has been in charge of identifying transfer targets. Considering the board’s reluctance to put their hands in their pockets, there is a chance they would simply choose to appoint the Italian as manager in the interim.

can't see any british manager (not that there are very many in the running) taking the job after the way curbs appears to have been undermined.

Bilic sounds like he's angling for the job without angling for the job. But I doubt it will be him. I can see a euro manager, one that both Gianluca (let me stick the knife in) Nani and Kia (can I borrow your knife) Joorabchian choose. Likely Ballardini. Perhaps Avram Grant.

Sadly when we thought we were being saved from the evil machinations of a shady character by a kind old biscuit man we were really being set up for the big bad wolf. Alright, a bit OTT but somehow today west ham feels a little less like the club I grew up with and bit more like the club of someone else.

Yeah, I think it will be some Euro as well. It's got to be someone used to working with a technical director and that basically rules out 99% of Brits. :(

I'd consider DiCanio, if it wasn't for the fascist thing

I've always been confused about the fascist thing. In his autobography he shows holiday snaps of him with Desailly, they are clearly pals. I don't know how you can be so fascist and have ethnic team mates who respond to you.

Maybe it is just part of the Italian culture in the sense that it is part of the Spanish, and was part of the British.

reading over the supposed shortlist my coin is on mancini.

bilic will cost money to buy out his contract.

houllier? track record of success but i think he'd be the most expensive salary.

so i think it's out of mancini, zola or donadoni and i think they'll opt for mancini, as they can point to his success with inter as his mark of quality.

and then there's this mystery 6th candidate...

could be PDC. i'd love to see PDC lead this team to glory as mgr but I don't think they'll choose a bloke with no experience. and if he was on the list they would have let they be known.

Perhaps it's Sir Trev?

I recall he explained that just cause he was politically fascist doesn't mean he is a racist. An unusual stand, no doubt.

I would take El Tel as manager in a heartbeat!
