I am sorry, however I am not so sure that we could have moved forward quickly enough with him at the helm.
He did a great job in keeping us up and consolidating our position in the Prem.
Who now? Bilic?

Despite it all I really believed he was the man, but he has I think been undermined by the board and to some extent the fans. Tho' the fact that apparently Neill was screaming at him to provide some leadership, could mean I'm talking total bollox.

Well, my comments 3 days ago were right on target, unfortunately! I think he's been shafted by a shortsighted board; shades of a few years ago.
We can say goodbye to much progress now, since apparently there's no desire to spend to get top flight players. Why would Bilic want to come to Upton Park with no funds to buy?
Let's hope the team can work together to do well, in spite of the turmoil.

Ahhh, now it makes more sense that Kelvin Koogan was trying to escape the Geordies, he obviously got a tip off and was pitching for a step up in his career. :p

He did well last season with all the injuries. He should've been given one more season...

It's a shame. Mainly for the reason that we have a Spurs-esque four managers in seven years, soon to be five managers. Curbishley was on the way to winning me over amazingly and I thought he was the man for the situation in which we find ourselves. However, if he no longer felt he enjoyed the confidence of the board, then he has done the honourable thing. I think we should underline that. Agree with his methods or not, he always tried to do the honourable thing.

Nicked from BBC:
West Ham's next manager will be their fifth in the seven years since Redknapp left in 2001, a stark contrast to the record of six managers in an 88-year period from 1902 to 1990.
I am not a happy Hammer.
Our record used to make me proud.
How do I explain this shite to my daughter?
How do I teach her about integrity when my role model is engaged in the modern penchant of onanistic self fulfillment?
As rabbits go - I am not a happy bunny.

Correct me if I'm wrong but hasn't all of our limited success come under the tenure of two managers? Greenwood and Lyall?
Is that a coincidence?
Will we ever have another 'Ron Greenwood' type manager? One that is visionary in his football?
*sigh*
(feeling a bit nostalgic tonight)
...and as for the sin of onan, I thought that's why you carried a hanky

Feeling absoluted disgusted over this, no fault on Curbs part but the scary thing is who is there that is available to replace him at the moment. The only name in England that I can think of (dread the thought) is Fat Sam. But what are the odds of Nani being appointed the new manager?

I am gutted about this. As Mikey said he was a good man for the situation we are in.
I really hope the club go for a decent option. The thought of O'leary or Allardyce makes me cringe.

Totally agree HM, I'm sorry to see Curbs go too, whatever you think of the bloke and his tactics he was West Ham through and through. A real shame it's come to this. As for Bilic, he was a fine player for us and along with Hartson & Kitson was instrumental in keeping us up, but the bloke's a complete mercenary in my book and I think all the calls for him to be our next manager from what seems to be the majority of our fans is a bit knee-jerk.
Saying that however, I've got no idea who should get the job. It's hard enough trying to figure out what the hell is going on at our club.

Considering that we are in the process of getting rid of players to reduce our wage bill, it is unrealistic to expect us to get a top quality manager, so it wouldn't surprise me to see someone like Iain Dowie get appointed.

Harry Redknapp's thoughts on Curbs departure, like him or not, he speaks his mind.
From sportinglife.com
Portsmouth manager Harry Redknapp has praised Alan Curbishley for "sticking to his principles" - and insisted there is "no way" he would return to the West Ham hotseat as his successor.
Curbishley resigned as manager of the Hammers after revealing he did not have control over transfers.
Redknapp had long spells as a player and manager at Upton Park but values the freedom he enjoys at Fratton Park.
He told the Sun: "Alan Curbishley may have gone as West Ham boss - but there's no way I'll replace him.
"Curbs quit because he feels he has been undermined and shown a lack of trust by the owner. I take my hat off to him for sticking to his principles.
"Don't get me wrong, West Ham is a fantastic club, with fantastic fans and - having gone there aged 15 - it has a special place in my heart.
"But I love it at Portsmouth and I have one big advantage over a lot of Premier League bosses these days: I've got an owner who lets the manager manage."
Curbishley's resignation came a day after Kevin Keegan was reported to have left Newcastle following a similar bust-up with the club's owners - although both sides insist Keegan remains at the club.
And Redknapp feels managers will simply have to get used to a different job description as the trend of billionaire owners sweeps the Premier League.
"The days of managing as I know it are coming to end - you will basically be given players and told to get on with it," he continued.
"West Ham sold players and it was nothing to do with Alan - but that will happen more and more.
"Let's face it, the way it's going, every Premier League club will be owned by a foreign billionaire.
"They all want to win the title, they all want to be in the Champions League and if they don't get it they'll be changing managers like we change socks. It will be a revolving door that never stops turning.
"And while we're at it, we might as well sack all the scouts too, as there won't be any need if players are coming and going above managers' heads."
