Police investigating claims by a 17-year-old girl that she was gang-raped by a group of men including Barclaycard Premiership football stars, made their first arrest today.

A 29-year-old man went voluntarily to a central London police station.

He was formally arrested and is being quizzed by detectives.

A Scotland Yard spokesman said: ``A 29-year-old man has attended a police station by appointment today.

``He was arrested in connection with allegations of rape and sexual assault by a 17-year-old woman.

``He remains in custody and it would be inappropriate to comment further at this stage.''

The alleged victim received the results of an HIV test today, which were negative.

Public relations consultant Max Clifford, who is advising the girl and her family, said: ``She is very relieved about that.''

He said the girl and her family welcomed the first arrest in the case but feared the investigation was taking too long.

``It's with immense relief that things are starting to happen,'' he said.

``They have been getting increasingly frustrated. The longer time went by, the harder it's going to be to prove.

``The family are tremendously relieved that something seems to be happening but the worry is that it's been left too long.

``They are relying on the police to get them justice.''

About time.

Ten days and they haven't questioned anybody. I am not saying they guys should be arrested, but atleast somebody should invited them to the police and ask few questions.

What does it say about this girl & her family that
A) The family doesnt seem to have any worries about a 17 yr old going a long way from home to pursue complete strangers for sex.

B) Their first move is to employ the parasite Max Clifford.

These slappers are as vile & amoral as Nicolas Miekle
& his overrated football cash-cows.

Maybe he could use his £10,000 on a good solicitor.

Good thing you didn't jump to any conclusions.

And you guys do know how to copy and paste, right? Might be useful to post the link you get your info from. Would make it more credible.

actually, i think "party organiser" is a bit of a euphamism. i don't think he organises the sort of party where you all sit round eating jelly and ice cream and then round the afternoon off playing charades and pass the parcel after a balloon-bending display by Coco the Clown.

the special guests at his parties probably get paid very well for the entertainment they provide

A 17-year old runs into a police station shouting
"Grape! Grape! Grape!"

The policeman said, "Woah, calm down love. Now, what's all this about a grape? Don't you mean rape?"

She replied, "No, there was a bunch of them."

Newcastle United manager Bobby Robson has came out and addressed the press
in an attempt to put a stop to the rumours that members of his team were
involved in an incident at a London hotel over the weekend. Robson, speaking
at St James' Park said "I hope the critics will stop saying that my team has
no penetration. The players have shown that they can come from behind". He
also added, "My players are getting stuck in as a group and are pulling
together. I must complement them on their positioning and in probing to find
holes to score. All in all they displayed fantastic energy and showed no
mercy. I just hope that next time, they can keep a clean sheet."

pardon my poor command of the language, but what exactly does "sexual assault" mean?

where does "sexual assault" end and "rape" begin?

so any assult (?limited to physical only) of a sexual nature short of vaginal or anal penetration constitutes "sexual assult" ("oral not being considered sex" ... Bill)

hm... whatever happened to terms like molest? and aggravated molest?
