Well, my level of Schadenfreude doesn't quite match yours, but it's always nice to see fiscal irresponsibility rewarded.

They got what they had coming, end of story. I wouldn't mind some more trouble.

Call me a nancy boy, but I don't really enjoy watching regular fans suffer. Although I have absolutely no sympathy for the fat cats who own and run the clubs.

i think the person who started this thread could do with a stiff slap.

Its is shocking to see such great teams from italy having to struggle. Any real football fan would never want to see some of the games true greats dissappear like fiorentia, And have teams like inter struggleing for cash.

Yeah, like Italian teams are the only ones struggling financially.

How wonderful.

Whatever. These clubs have only themselves to blame. The Bundesliga has had to pass on the best foreigners in recent years for reasons of fiscal responsibility, while Serie A has (over)spent itself into debt. What goes around comes around.

They're not the only ones with issues. The same thing is occuring in England, Holland, and Germany. I'm not sure about Spain outside of Real having pulled off a one time deal to clear the debts only to start to rack them back up via buying ZZ.

prk166, I can't speak for the other leagues, but the Bundesliga is experiencing problems of a temporary nature. The guy who owns the league's TV rights went bankrupt. The clubs themelves have for the most part been very fiscally responsible and not overpaid for players, in contrast to the situation in Italy.

Not to burst anyones bubble. . . but, no amount of outrageous spending could plunge certain clubs into debt. Italian clubs are spending less to prevent what happened to Fiorentina happening to them, but no other club is financially as unstable as La Viola were. Vittorio Cecchi Gori was knee deep in all sorts of scandle, very much like Atletico Madrid's Jesus Gil and couldn't keep things afloat. However, clubs like Milan, Inter, Juventus will never go under. Berlusconi is a billionaire (tv tycoon/pioneer), as is Inter's Moratti (oil), as is the Agnelli family of Juventus (FIAT automobiles). Other Italian clubs are taking steps of their own to prevent such an unfortunate situation as Fiorentina's. You all have a nice day though.

Indeed, how can you say that it "shocking to see such great teams from italy having to struggle. Any real football fan would never want to see some of the games true greats dissappear like fiorentia, And have teams like inter struggleing for cash"

It's their own damned fault. Always throwing the money around, in more than one case money they didn't even have.
It's just unfair the way it goes over there. Now they're in trouble. Suits em right.

I myself feel there should be a max. budget that clubs can work with anyway. Takes care of all these problems to.

As per Calcio:
You reap what you sew.

As per the puerile halfwit who started this thread:
Be careful what you wish for, because you just might get it...

... and:
Karma will always come back to bite you in the ass.

Like the man in front of me said. All kinds of funds that don't belong to the clubs get pumped in there. Very unfair to other clubs.

How nice of mister Sinko.... my club has already been through hell once and narrowly survived. Nowadays it's better but the board still makes a mess of things imho.

I can't tell if you're being sarcastic or complimentary, but I assume the former.

So what did I say to offend you? The truth?

From a supporter's perspective, how can you be "glad". If your own club means anything to you, then you must surely feel an inordinate amount of empathy for the supporters of clubs like Fiorentina.

Yes, the boards (but also the players and agents!) in Italian football have only themselves to blame for their vainglorious support for the star culture that exists in Serie A. And yes, the financial difficulties now being experienced by some of the more flightly "investors" in football are nothing but good news for those of us who care for the long-term future of the game.

But to a football fan, the demise of Fiorentina should be a sad thing. nothing else.

And, as has been pointed out, laughing at the misfortune current in Italy is more or less like laughing in the mirror. Just because an Italian club got there first doesn't mean other clubs from England or Spain aren't following close behind. Will we all still be laughing when the Premiership starts taking casualties?

Why?

I'd rather see someone like them disappear than a Paget or Baldock.

OK, I'd rather not see anyone disappear, but apart from not wanting to see the same teams win everything year in year out, a team considered reasonably big disappearing like this could be what the game needs. And to sacrifice one to save the many isn't the worst thing ever.

Fiorentina is still here right? And I don't think they'll actually go broke and dissapear. So I'm laughing.

Next time you're in Florence, I dare you to share your sentiments with the tifosi...

...yet another reason to hate Ajax and their fans...is being arrogant part of the Ajax culture (Cruyff, Van Gaal, .....YOU!!!) or what?????
