Fiorentina is still here right? And I don't think they'll actually go broke and dissapear. So I'm laughing. Stop laughing because Fiorentina did in fact go broke and disappear. They will start another club in Florence that will start in Serie C1 or thereabouts, but it will not be the same Fiorentina club.

Skip, I've never understood why they do it that way. FC Tirol Innsbruck recently went broke here in Austria. The club was dissolved and starts the current season in the third division under a different name. I can agree with penalizing a club by banishing it down to the third division, but what good does making it choose a new name and identity do? To me, THAT is a slap in the face to the fans, who end up being the real victims.

He runs the club into the ground, loses a few million Euros but otherwise, he's right back whre he started while the fans lose their club.

Maybe the financial situation in Italy is the reason why those hypocrites in Perugia are desperate to get Ahn Jung-hwan back to sell him at much higher price. I would like to see Perugia go down the toilet just like FC Tirol. Although FC Tirol might not have deserved to have their name changed but Perugia deserves any punishment that might come to them.

I'd like Lazio to go through the mill, as they're Fascist, racist so-and-sos. Whether they go bust or not is not of great importance, I just like to see them suffer a while.

But is Tirol truely the same club? They merged with another club and now have a different name. There is hardly difference between the situation of Tirol and Fiorentina.

I dont feel sorry for the fat cat clubs like Lazio ,Inter Milan and Juventus .They are responsible for the massively inflated transfer fee's in the European transfer market. About 2 or 3 years ago these teams started paying insane transfer fee's of over £30 million to get players like Crespo ,lopez,etc...These deals resulted in a massive inflation of transfer fee's in Europe .Teams were suddenly demanding ridiculous prices and teams were forced to go over £20 million to land the best players .Around the time of the 98 world cup it was possible to get reallly top players for around the £8 million to £10 million range.
The fat cat italian clubs are responsible for the massive increase in prices .
If they are now in financial trouble its their own fault and I dont feel the slightest bit sorry for them.
Teams in other countries could go bankrupt as a result of the insane transfer market .

Baked or fried? How do you like to eat your crow?
Real Madrid have played absolutely no part in these inflated transfer fees. None at all. . .

After the shameless way Italy acted after losing to Korea, I'd say that a 2-3 year depression for italian soccer may not be a bad thing at all. If they go the way of the hungarians I am not going to miss them. Maybe this will get them not to take soccer so seriously, and they'll find other things to do.

You're not going to miss some of the greatest teams in the world if they did go bankrupt (which they wont...but thats not the point).
Prehaps it is because you are american (sorry :s) and you dont understand the passion and importance football actually has in europe...

maybe it's a cultural difference or something, but imagine if the NBA closed its door to foreign talent just becaue the Dream Team lost to Japan. And because the head coach was playing 4 guys in the backcourt, and 1 guy against 5 on offense. It was THEIR fault that they lost!
It's stupid and childish. What kind of human adult would act so impetuously?
*I'm talking about the non-EU restriction rule

*I'm talking about the non-EU restriction rule To be fair, not even Italians take Gaucci (Perugia chairman) seriously. Sure, the Italians were mad about Ahn's goal but not to that extent.
And remember that when clubs are in trouble, the fans suffer the worst. And when all is said and done, the fat cat owners are still more or less fat.

What is sad is that Fiorentina are going down. They've always been one of those clubs you don't hate. Their rare viola kits gave them an own identity and made them unique in a way. Their supporters are the best and most passionate in Italy and didn't deserve this collapse. The club shaped legends like Roberto Baggio and Gabriel Batistuta into world stars too.
Plus, Firenze is a wonderful city.

I can't say I'm glad about these teams struggling. But I sure am glad that MLS aren't the only ones.

my point being although i hate (for E.G.) Chelsea went bankrupt (as they are skint) although i really hate and cant stand them, I would not ever say it is a good thing, If you are a football fan you would never want any club to go bankrupt and have to change name, sell stadiums etc...
Maybe it is because i am a boro fan (1986) when boro when into liquidation, We woould never be where we are without the help of hartlepool, (local club who lent us thier stadium) when aryesome park was in the hands of the creditors (or is it debtors ...hmmm) We were lucky to be here, and would never be where we are today.......
Even if it was sunderland i would never want them to seise to exist....
