So who here uses this? I've been a Dirct TV Setanta subscriber for the past two years but for various reasons I am going back to Cox Cable (mainly due to internet service and price).
Any way I just signed up for Setanta broadband and I have to say it looks quite good. The biggest plus I can see is that I can watch on demand archived games plus all the extra coverage like the Coca Cola leagues, etc.
So far on my 5mb DSL it works fine and picture quality is good. Since I'll be going cable internet soon with 10 mb it should be even better.
only downfall is I can't lay on the sofa to watch :D But really this seems like a great option for cable subscribers.
By the way I'm running Mac OSX. Safari does not seem like it works with it. However a quick download of Firfox solved that problem. also to view it larger in Quicktime you can either use the "apple command" button and the - or + buttons to increase size. their is also supposedly a way you can use VLC for full screen but I haven't looked into that yet. Of course if your on a Windows machine your set to go with WMP (Setanta has a deal to use that which is why it's a bit more involved with Quicktime) .
For those who have used this service for a while what are your thoughts?

I used to have it for a year. Had problems sometimes during the big matches (Chelsea, United etc) could only get the low quality stream to work. In addition I wasn't a fan of watching it on the computer after awhile. Small screen, no laying on the Sofa etc. The advantage is that you can use it whereever you have internet access. So if you are at work/school/travel etc.
I finally got Directv and since Setanta is the same price either way, I much prefer it on the TV. However, if you are going to have cable, the broadband service works well enough. I suppose you have good reasons for switching which I won't question, and you don't have much choice then but to use the broadband.

Yeah I would much prefer it on the television but like I said due to finances and the fact that my DSL sucks and the ISP is even worse I need to change to cable. I will miss waking up every saturday at 5:00 am and plopping on the sofa watching the games with coffee. Broadband will have to due. I might have to drag my old lazy Boy into the computer room and use that as my chair :D

I've had it for over a year now. The only issues were the big games but they must have adjusted the amount of bandwidth available because it got much better at the end of last year. The archived games are great and it gives you more options on Champions League days as well.
I don't know that much about how Macs work but I have an S-Video that connects my computer to my TV which allows me to watch it on the TV. That way I still get to lay on the sofa.

Question: Does the month-to-month service include some Champion League games or is that only availabe for the annual subscription?
And how is the On-Demand service?
Thanks. I am looking to subscribe, but need more info. God bless.

That would be a sweet set up but unfortunately my computer is in a different room. I wonder if the Apple TV set up would work? I'm going to look into that.

Here's a link to the broadband schedule http://sports.setanta.com/en/TV-and-Entertainment/TV-Channels/Setanta-Broadband/?facets/tv-listings-space/north-america-locale/setanta-broadband/
Here's what I saw for listed options......
Premier
Blue Square
Carling
Coca Cola
UEFA
Pay Per View
plus rugby and darts if that's your thing :D
The pay per view is included in the annual subscription but I'm on the month to month so it would cost per game.
Their is a demo so that you can try it first before subscribing. just go to Setanta US site and follow the links.

I also plan on going month-to-month.
Yeah, what's nice is I have a pc hooked up to my tv, so for me it will be easy to watch.
Anyway, looking forward to it. God bless.

I've had a for a year. No major complaints, works OK for what it is.
- The picture quality is acceptable, not stellar, just a notch above the free chinese streams. I tried hooking up computer to TV, but it looks fuzzy, not enough def. from Setanta.
- Coverage: Champions league you get only _selected_ games. Which subsequently go into archive. Don't expect to see all matches you want. Luckily, ESPN2 fills some of the gaps. No FA cup. They used to have the Portuguese league last year, I don't see it on the lineups now. Not a major problem, but it was a nice bonus. The international games coverage (EURO/WC qualifiers) was great, I saw stuff that even my local pub didn't show.
- Archive is great, they usually post on the same day (but the quality is only 300, not 600 as in live games). The overview program each weekend was OK. They now got a talk show which I saw once and really liked.
My account is up for renewal and i am still deciding if I am going to go for it or not. There are definitely some benefits, but I am not convinced there are 150$ worth of benefits, since you could get all games on streams...

With that^^^ I will probably go month-to-month and see how I like it. I guess it may not be worth the 150 bones.
Thanks for the low-down. It is greatly appreciated.
