View Full Version : Caldwell and/or Dabizas?

I've said it before so I will say it again here. I think that Uncle Bobby needs to give either Steve Caldwell or Dabizas a runout in the first team. Titus once again showed us on Friday why he's been a fairly big disappointment on Tyneside since his big money move from the Tractor Boys. Bramble and O'Brien have not performed very well. I think it is time for SBR to play either Caldwell or Dabizas. Surely they can't do any worse than the current two? I mean both Dabizas and Caldwell are respective internationals. So, your thoughts on Uncle Bobby playing Stevie Caldwell and/or Nikos Dabizas at the back?

You know, I'm glad someone finally has stepped up and voted a little confidence in "Nick the Greek" (I love that nickname). He never really played bad (not worse then Bungle) and can play inside left and/or outside ledt just fine. Since he has expressed his readiness to play 1st team, it's about time Sir Bobby gives him one last run-out, because he won't be transferring for at least 3months.

Thx,

Jay!

Well, I thought that this thread would get more of response than it did. But thanks for the response Jay.

OK, the defense played fairly well on Saturday with Bramble and O'Brien. But, that's just one game and it still doesn't mean that the other two shouldn't get a chance. I'll be waiting to see how the duo do in upcoming matches before I'm ready to accept that Caldwell or Dabizas shouldn't be given a chance in the first team.

Actually I've always wondered why Dabizas hasn't played. Every time I see Bramble in the lineup, it concerns me. I feel he's a liability.

Dabizas technically is a decent defender. His problem always has been that he's a step slow.

True enough, Crewtoon, but I would say that neither O'Brien nor Bramble are much faster than Dabizas and I would say neither of them are better technically either.

FD, you may be right.

But Dabizas does have a history of being made look bad by top strikers.

That's why I waffle on him returning.
