In Honduras they are saying that CANADA = “They play like the English but in a bad version”.

Everyone in Honduras are saying that Canada sucks and that there coming on the 6 to wipe the floor with the Canada team, they said the same thing against Mexico and they lost.

You can read all about it in http://www.diez.hn (http://www.diez.hn/)

Meh, pre-game trash talk. Common Latin American practice. No biggie.

Common Canadian practice: We'll be doing our talking on the pitch.

This is nothing new from Latin America. I don't think there has been a game in the past few years that I have wanted Canada to win. In this group, I see as it coming down to Honduras and us for the 2nd transfer spot, I think a win against them would certainly put a wall up in front of Honduras.

Unless I misunderstood the article, the writer seems to be a bit behind times as they talk about Bridge working together with Mitchell. As far as I know, Bridge was assistant to the women and Hart is working with Mitchell.

I'm not familiar with central american journalism, but I am fluent in Spanish and didn't find any trash talking at all in the article or the comments to it.

How can they be a bad version if the others have never qualified for anything?

that's the whole joke...

it's just such a stupid statement - it deserves a stupid answer.

On paper Honduras is definitely the favorites. They have every right to be confident. They should beat Canada wherever they play this WC qualifying.

Not at all... In Honduras people don't listen to Chelato who is the guy that said yall are a bad version of england... we respect the Canucks because they have beaten us and vice-versa...

Humm, on paper looking at the players that Canada has, Canada is better, Honduras have people playing in Europe but in the 2nd division, like the players that are playing in Italy.

In the other hand, Canada have players playing in England and Germany, that are in the first league of those countries. With out saying the players that play in the MLS.

I dont think is fair and the truth to say that Honduras are the favorites, on paper its diferent.

Dude, do you know what you are talking about? Our players in Italy are in Cagliari, Udinese(from those they have signed contracts that will become effective once 18)Roma and Parma(who is in Serie B, not for long) and Inter but he was loaned out to Benfica... I won't say we are the 8th wonder of the modern world... but we do have players abroad... example: Wilson Palacios(Def. Mid) plays for Wigan, sought out after Liverpool and Man U... or Edgard Alvarez who plays for Roma and is wanted at Chievo, Racing Santander and Toulouse... we aren't as insignificant as you might think...oh, we had a dude at FC Koln like ya'll had but the Turkish club that owns his contract asked for 12m, so he did not stay.

Sorry but I don’t think you don’t know what you’re talking about, let’s start with Italy, you had 3 players playing in that country:

- Edgard Álvarez is playing in Pisa of the 2nd Division of Italy
- Julio César Rambo is playing in Parma 2nd Division of Italy
- David Suazo did not played more than 80% of the minutes last season for Inter and was loaned to Benfica (because Mourinho thought he had no skill for the level of Inter forwards) which there football is not the best of Europe.

You dont have any players right now playing in Cagliari, Udinese and Roma like you said.

England

You have two players playing in Wigan of England which are:

Wilson Palacios and Maynor Figueroa

Poland

Carlos Costly of Belchatow, now Poland does not have a good leagued, there teams never get to the group round on the Champions and there international team is on the lower level of the Europe teams.

China

You have some players on that country but that league is not a good one, so im not going to talk about them

MLS

I think you have like 2 players, one in Toronto and in DC United (not sure if thats the team).

------

Ok, now you can see I know what I’m talking about, your "Europe" players play on the 2nd division of Italy, Suazo has not played any minutes when he was on Inter and he is really out of shape because of that (he has not played yet on Benfica), Carlos Costly plays on a league that is not that good, I think the Mexican, Asian and Arab leagues can compete 1 o 1 with that leagued.

The only players that I see that are on the level of the Canada Europe players are Wilson Palacios and Maynor Figueroa, those are the only ones that are on the same league competition. That’s only 2 players that are on the same level of the Canada Europe players.

If you see on papers CANADA is better.

OK, good for you... most of your players are from canteras and Reserves... I mean, I respect canucks and their football, but thats what I think and if we talk about reserve players then there is no real advantage you may have over us, oh you forgot Kansas city and NE Revs, And Wilson is good not just to Canadians but to the whole premiership... Peace out homie...

Even on paper I feel both teams are evenly match, no one side is clearly more talented then the other. I'm sure all Canadian fans know about Guevara and what kind of threat he can pose. Suazo should be Honduras's biggest threat but he has definitely fallen from grace a bit, I'm more scared of Wilson Palacios actually, the guy can definitely make things happen if we don't mark him tight. Alvarez is ridiculously fast so we will have to watch out for him too.

For Honduras they know they will have to watch out for De Rosario and De Guzman, they are not dumb, De Guzman is one of the very best in Concacaf.

Fans of each country may be ignorant of the opposing nation but the coaches will be well informed of each country's strengths and weaknesses.

You'd have to be a really dedicated fan to scout out the Concacaf teams outside of the big boys.

Hondurans showing their ignorance again. When will they ever learn?
