CL football is almost upon us guys! Let's hope for a better campaign this time..

http://www.uefa.com/competitions/ucl/news/kind=1/newsid=740905.html

Werder are seeded in pot 2 which gives us a better chance at qualifying..

The draw starts tommorow at 18:00 CET

The group I'd like to see us drawn in:

Lyon (revenge!)
Werder
FC Basel
Anorthosis Famagusta

Worst case scenario group:

Man United
Werder
Fenerbache
Atletico Madrid

Anyways best of luck to Werder!

This year there will be massive differences in group stage
considering, that quality teams like Athletico or Florenz
are put in the weak team group.

I fear we get a horror group, but let´s see.

btw:
It would like to get ManUtd or Liverpool from Pot1 into
our group, because they are one of the big fishes
we haven´t played against.

Man United are the one team I fear for Werder...their style of play would just destroy us..

At Old Trafford propably, but at home we normally
get our sh*t together against such teams
and collect at least a point.
Asked Inter, Barca, Chelski and some others ... :)

I fear darkhorse teams in groups like Olympiakos last season. :(

Personally I'd like to be drawn with either Arsenal or Lyon. I support Arsenal in the EPL because their style and philosophy matches that of Werder. Lyon because I want revenge :D

For me the dark horses this year are Zenit. They still have the bulk of their UEFA cup winning squad plus for some reason German teams don't play all to well in Russia

I fancy a group of death since it occurred to me that Werder can only play their best football against really strong opposition (something to do with their concentration and will to win)

So...
Liverpool
Werder
Steaue (should provide something special after 3 consecutive years of qualification)
Fiorentina

Inter(Italy)
Werder (Germany)
Panathinaikos (Greece)
Famagusta (Cyprus)

Two teams we already played some years ago
and the first team from Cyprus in the CL.

Damn, what a boring group... ;)

If we can't get past this group then we really need to reconsider our priorities...

But guys remember the Greek course from last season:
- horrible against Olympiakos in both legs
- Greek referee at Rangers match

;)

1.Olympiakos are a much better team than Pana

2.I still think the main reason we screwed up last year was because of the injuries our team had. We were crippled.

exactly, i don't think that you'll choke twice in a row against greek teams

There won't be any excuse in the case of another group stage failure (with all respect for Athens)...;)

Good luck!

It all depends oh how we start the campaign..

If you guys didn't notice..Werder have lost all of their opening CL matches.

2-0 against Inter

2-0 against Barca

2-0 against Chelsea

2-1 against Real

That means nothing, history is there to be changed. Time to step up.

-------Diego
Ozil-----------Frings

Boom! That attacking midfield is good enough to score/create 1 goal per game besides Inter away.

CL Schedule:

September 16th:

Bremen vs Anorthosis (finally an easy CL opening match!)

October 1st:

Inter vs Bremen

October 22nd:

Pana vs Bremen

November 4th:

Bremen vs Pana

November 26th:

Anorthosis vs Bremen

December 9th:

Bremen vs Inter

Would have definitely preferred to face Pana at home first, but overall I don't have much complaints...

For me it is a very bad schedule: i was planning a western Europe trip by airplane in which i wanted to include also a Werder match. I was very happy to see Inter in the same group, cause the second airport was Milano for sure, but surprise: the game is in the second match day exactly the only period in which i can't travel cause i am again on the road to Munich to visit my brother.

This is a good reason for Werder to qualify to the knok-out stage: to get me a chance of seeing them live in CL(i managed to do that the last 2 seasons).

If you're from Craiova you could go see Bayern getting spanked by Steaua. That's almost as beautiful as a Werder match.

The problem is i don't like Steaua at all so it will be very hard for me to cheer for a team :)
