Tottenham have handed a trial to Dutch keeper Oscar Moens. The talented custodian is available on a free transfer, having recently won his release from AZ Alkmaar after a lengthy wrangle, and Spurs have been alerted to his availability.
Moens is travelling over to London on Wednesday, inthe hope of winning a deal with the White Hart Lane outfit. Spurs are the first team to express interest in Moens, meaning they are in pole position to land his signature should he impress over the next few days.
Moens' lawyer Peter Baars has confirmed to skysports.com that the 30-year-old is on his way to England for a trial with managerless Spurs. "Oscar is travelling over to London today," Baars told skysports.com. "He is set to have a trial with Tottenham.
"They will judge him over the next few days and decide whether to offer him a contract or send him back to Holland. "At the moment there is no other interest in Oscar. "He is a free agent and can sign a contract with any club at any point."
Despite being without a full time manager, following the axeing of Glenn Hoddle, Spurs director of football and caretaker boss David Pleat is said to be on the lookout for a new keeper. With Neil Sullivan having departed for Chelsea, Spurs have just Rob Burch and Lars Hirchfeld as cover for Kasey Keller.
Moens would probably be charged with the task of acting as understudy to Keller, and he will look to impress Pleat over the next few days. Pleat has always been heavily involved in the transfer dealings at White Hart Lane, even under the time of Hoddle, and he may have the final say on whether Moens wins a contract.
