FMF president Alberto De la Torre in an Interview with TV Azteca named the players mentioned. The FMF has allready sent representatives to South America and Europe to begin Negotiations with the Coaches.

You should just hire Bruce Arena, the Americans here seem to think he's the best in the world anyway.

What worries me... is that we hire a guy that does not know our players....
because he will have to spend 2 years or so picking and choosing the players who he sees fit.
A guy that knows our players can go in ther right away and start building a team. Start with the Sub17-sub20 teams and take them into the 2006 WC.

Yea, but you can always count on two regional tournaments in those two years. Gold Cup and Copa America will allow for some experiments, but the only drawback would be that both are being held the same year, right, 2004?
I hear World Cup qualifiers are starting in 2003, next year, in South America, but "the federation" must be starting in 2004.
At any rate, by 2004 they must have the core selected and let's see who makes a name for themselves in the MFL to add to the mix.

Interesting that they are looking into Dutch/French managers. Wonder what the program is that they're looking into transitioning into... although VS you have stated that more focus has been placed on hte youth players. Maybe this is playing into the equation/selection process?

If we go with a foreigner, its crucial that he is aware of our players and our football
I would much rather have a team going into those regional tournaments and modifying the team afterwards.... then going into those tournaments from scratch.
I truly believe that this past World Cup... if the team would have played together a lot longer... We would have been semifinalist..THe bulk of that team.... Aguirre got from scratch. After the Honduras loss, Aguirre was thrown in there. Aguirre has said this numerous times... HE did not know who to go with. It only seemed natural for him to go with a group that was playing as a gruop.. So that is why he chose Cruz Azul players. That gruop at that time was playing well as a gruop. And he got some from Pachuca.
Meza was changing it up every game. The thing is... I would have been content if Lapuente would have stayed in there going into 2002. Look, I think Meza is a good tactical coach, but what hurt him was his player selection. HE chose most of his team and with a little help from Lebrija... but i would say 95% of his team he chose.
Lapuente brought up some guys and still used a good chunk of Bora's guys. And along the way, he started giving guys like Gerardo Torrado, Rafa Marquez, Paco Palencia more playing time.
Meza did not. He went with people like Omar Blanco, Marco Antonio Ruiz, Alberto Coyote, David Rangel, Alberto Macias, etc. Those are guys that have no business what so ever on the national team.
We lost a good generation of players because of him (Meza). Miguel Zepeda, Joel Sanchez, Dulio Davino, Pavel Pardo, just too name a few. Davino, Sanchez, Pardo were all World Cup vets. They are 26 years of age and already vets from 98. THose guys should have been there... Not Manuel Vidrio, Sigifredo Mercado, Alberto Rodriguez, etc. Zepeda should have been there. The way he was playing during 98 and 99... we all thought he was a given. I dont know what Meza did to them.. but just screwed up thier careers.
Dont get me wrong... Just because he is Mexican does not mean he knows the players... because Meza's selection is beyond me and he is Mexican. I know many want to blame Televisa for that selection... but those who believe that are **********ing idiots.. because just look at that team... yeah.. i am real sure guys like Victor Ruiz, Omar Blanco are real marketbale.... rightttttt
As much as i like Paco Palencia, Cuauhtemoc Blanco, Oscar Perez, Oswaldo Sanchez, Jared Borgetti..... I hope they are not in the next World Cup. That would only indicate that are youth is not getting any better, All those guys are 28-29. (Although Paco Palencia is just part of the good sperm club, i think he will be there cuase he still runs like he is 16, guy never gets tired).
I expect to see guys like Torrado, Marquez, de Nigris, Mascorro, Mendoza, Victorino, Lopez, Salinas, Castro, etc.... all on the national team.
I would also like to have one or 2 18-19 year olds on the team. The sub 15 team is playing alot of international tournaments...and i hope they actually take that sub team serious

The FMF wants a World Class manager, they feel it can only improve the team. Help them take that next step. World Class Coach, World Class tactics all we need are World Class players,
Hyar Hyar :D

The youth Squad programs (U-15/17/21) are beign supervised by Hugo Grondona. All the Coaches are Mexicans. The only age category that will get orders from the National team Coach is the U-23. So i guess your Right bro Alex.

Paisano Various Styles:
You, or the 'ungrateful paisano' RDL could be better coach than those mentioned...
At the very least, you both know more about Mexican players than anybody else...

(rest of excellent, thoughtful post snipped for brevity)
Bingo. It does no good to hire a world-class coach if he thinks he can just mail it in because of his reputation. CONCACAF has gotten too tough for that, and it's not just us gringos who've picked up our game, it's Costa Rica, Honduras, Guatemala, etc. who've also brought their programs up a notch or two or three.
It's very nice to throw big names around, but ultimately you need to find out if they a) have any interest in the job and b) have any interest in doing it right.
The best guy for the job might just be toiling along in the MFL, and you folks could produce his name a lot sooner than I could.

The mexican problem is not COACHING!! is the whole sistem, they need to erradicate NEPOTISM, FAVORITISM, PRIMADONISM, AND JOTISM, unfortunately I have to withness in DALLAS TX many mexicans fans waiting for hours, just to see their STARS RUN TO THE BUS LIKE BRITNEY SPEARS IGNORING EVERYBODY and they were lead by HUGO SANCHEZ WITH HIS HIGH HEEL ON HIS HANDS, 'fuchi bola de indios" Hugo said before closing the bus doors....
