It's a 27 minute video... mind telling us why it's worth the watch, or what it's about?

Just to see what New York looked like in the 1950s.

I know it's before our time.

It's not exactly "Sidewalks of New York," but there's a certain charm about it I can't put my finger on. You have to see it for yourselves.

I watched it. Its pretty good. Your typical girl from small town dreams of working for MTV. Gets mixed up with the wrong crowd. First its drinking and cigarettes. Then she starts doing smack. Her father hires a P. I. to find her and bring her home. There is a good Clint Eastwood type shoot out.

*SPOILER ALERT*

The P. I. shoots the girl's pimp and the family has a teary reunion at the end.

Not for nothing but I would love to see a 2008 version. While I love watching historical videos of NYC, we can get stuck in the past.

NYC is NOTHING like that now and we need to leave that behind.

I miss the old NYC. When almost every pizza place was good. When you had a german deli[so clean you could eat off the floor] in every hood. When people knew how to walk down the street or up an escalator. Egg creams what THE FECK happened to egg creams ?????

Pizza sucks, no knishs, bagels are fcuking frozen garbage. I agree with you 100% but that NYC was from the 80 even early 90 not 1950.

Egg Creams? Have you been to Eddie Sweet Shop on Metro in Forest Hills?

Remember the small diners with the nasty green counters and twirling counter seats? AWESOME BREAKFASTS in those spots!!

WTF is that ?????:D

80's..maybe..90's no. I left Jackson Heights in 84. The German deli on 82 street was gone. Joey D's is still there. Dragon Seed is gone, the bagel store on 37th ave is gone. Its sad :(

I have been out in Nassau for the past year and have found that all the good Kosher delis are out here. I had a great one in Queens but they closed when I was real young. I love a good potato pancake and hot dog lol.

There are still some good places but the problem is that you have to go searching for them and many are out of the way. Before they were ALL OVER THE PLACE!!

I can still find a few places that know how to make them here in Jersey. If you want one from an authentic Ice Cream shop, Holsten's (Sopranos tour) serves them. They actually do it using the old fashioned soda-jerks, plus it also has those twirling counter seats that COSMOS mentions below.:)

There was a small, greasy skillet place in Bloomfield called the Short Stop. My uncle used to go there when he was a beat cop. It was pretty much a neighborhood landmark.

It's now a Dunkin Doughnuts :( And Ferrara's Bakery on Bloomfield Ave? A Domino's Pizza.
