First he scores 4 last night against El Paso (Portland won 6-1) Now the G's have announced that he will join the G's (replacing Bardales who is out the rest of the season) as a Developmental Player once the A-League season is finish.

Excellent move by Sigi.

Excellent move by Sigi.

A better move would have been to not have signed Albright and offered Tennyson a full contract, not a developmental contract.

When is their season over?

Portlands final regular season match is Sept 2nd. Then the playoffs.

First, if you're going to refer to the guy, learn to spell his name.

Secondly, since you guys like nicknames so much, Big Mac, the Hoosier Daddy, prefers to be called "Key"

Thirdly, if you think Key is, well, the key, you're dreaming. He is fast and has a cannon for a right leg which gets you something in the A League. MLS defenders by-and-large will not be that impressed with the fact that he cannot hold the ball, has cement blocks for feet and couldn't hit a pass if his life depended on it.

In short, he's a very one-dimensional player. Sigi likes him because he has that well-known regard for ALL his ex-Bruins, but he is not a finished product and he will not add that much to your squad.

He's a work in progress, and a "developmental" contract is most appropriate. He wasted a year playing PDL in between tryouts with bad Euro squads, lasted trhee days with penniless St Pauli, flunked badly in a tryout with lowly Bryne in Norway, finally got a shot with broke, relegation-bait GIF Sundsvall in Sweden desperate for a warm body at striker but STILL couldn't break into the lineup and was dumped at the end of the season.

You might want to lower your expectations a hair, boys.

Bummer. On the bright side, he still sounds like a big upgrade from Chi Bardales.

Bill thanks for a different perspective on Key. I'd still rather have a "work in progress" then someone who just hasn't worked out at all. Albright has shown that he can't score in the MLS, maybe if we only played against A-League teams and Chilean Reserves he'd be hot s.h!t... Colo Colo under 16 here we come!!!! And apparently Albright is eating a good chunk of salary cap to boot.

bill, get off your high horse and remember that we did see "key" play in 3 preseason games. Yeah, they were preseason but he did stand out.

He stood out so MUCH in fact that Sigi cut him.

Do you know that as a fact?

Think about if for a second Bill. LA have the MLS rights to "key" for two years. Sigi could have:

a) signed him to a developmental deal which would have paid him peanuts to sit the bench and maybe get playing time behind Fish, Albright and Mullan (though no one expected them to be injured and crap like they have at that time)

or

b) let him play starting ball for a year in Portland for a decent wage and see how he pans out knowing that if things go well, LA still have first dibs on him next year.

Tennyson may not have the best ball control skills, but he is a killer in the air. His first two goals against El Paso were headers off set pieces. (he is pretty tall- in the 6ft 3 range.)

He also has 17 goals in the Timbers last 8 games. I know it is against lesser competition, but someone who is a "classic stiff" does not score at that pace.

The Timbers season does end on 9-2, but they will probably hang around in the playoffs for a week or two.

Mckinley is a stud! He's will score in the MLS!
He probably won't be dropping 4 goals on anyone but he'll be a good MLS player and will go to Europe eventually, in my oppinion.
