I'm part of a group that are currently gearing up to start a brand new 24/7 live online Soccer dedicated television channel. The main focus of the league will be US Soccer, producing in house productions and running syndicated content, although we will try and shed light on some leagues that don't receive too much coverage in the US(Russia, Holland, Portugal, Romania etc..). We've got the technology all set and are looking for motivated individuals to get in on the ground floor. We've got a couple hundred programming ideas presently, and we all have experience with Soccer in the US. The station will be based in Boston, Mass, we are currently looking for people in these positions:
Advertising Sales: Working for commission, selling both video and online ad space, approaching potential sponsors/affiliates, can bring in steady salary later on
On Screen Presenters: Charismatic, Energetic invididuals, passion for Soccer is strongly preferred.
Camera personnel: Anyone with a good amount of video camera experience, this is an ideal opportunity for a young professional or college student to break into the industry.
Research Interns: Internet savvy, Passionate soccer fans
Other Internship opportunities: We will have other openings for internships, both Web and On-Set related.

remember we're small, but incredibly motivated, talented, and are looking for similar soccer/football/futbol loving individuals who are looking for a way to get into the industry and promote the sport they love.

If you're interested please PM me with some more about yourself, any relevant experience/examples of work, thanks!

Best of luck to you.

If I were you (and had the cash), I'd try to tap some already established talent (GolTV, FSC/FSR) to help you out. Those guys don't get paid much so they might not be that far out of reach.

Name talent can certainly speed things along in terms of establishing yourself (ie: Rich Eisen - NFL Network).

Again - best of luck.

We don't have that type of budget, but we've got some prospects.

You're going to need a lot of money. Do you have a business plan? If yes, you should write a proposal for people that might want to look at it, and if there's something of value for them - they'd give you money to start out that first tough year and that even scrappier second ...

Now if you were doing a baseball or football thing... you'd find Massive competition. Every day (no, every other hour) I see a different or brand new NFL/Sports or Hip-hop or rock online type thing... (and then I hit the link and they all look like they were done last-minute.) The challenge for those guys, is that, everyone and their twin brother is doing the same thing, and none of them stick out ESPECIALLY when there's espn.com or nfl.com, mtv.com or bet.com, etc (which are 1000 times better, very shiny, very rich, have better scoops, better contests, prizes, and have full-time staffers working on the website, getting advertisers, etc.)

Now in a soccer version, you'll find less competition for US soccer content, but the problem is getting enough revenue coming in so you guys can pay your monthly bills. Then again, maybe you guys haven't quit your dayjobs and are doing this by night in which case - you should be ok... BUT, to really have a quality product, you'll need to give it 24/7/356 type passion. Hope your business plan isn't something like getting 10 unpaid interns to work hard. If you do, you'll get what you pay for.

I recommend calling and sending e-mails with these guys for feedback. They know the limits, pros, cons, who'll pony money for soccer stuff, who won't, who'll return month after month for soccer ventures, who won't... you NEED to talk these guys:

I called the 90soccer guys when starting work on my soccer project, and they were at least approachable. I never followed up because I started concentrating on my Public Relations clients. But good luck. Send me a PM if you want more ideas. My first five mins. are free:D

We do have a business plan and several very interested investors, we're not rookies :) Everyone involved has experience with the Soccer industry we know what to expect and who to pursue when it comes to potential advertisers. If we can get the right people on board, and get things in motion properly, we'll be a one of a kind channel here in the states.
