Russell Hoult, certainly one of the best keepers in the First Division, has signed a one-year extension to his contract. The deal will keep him at The Hawthorns until 2007.

Excellent news. But I have to wonder, what will become of Joe Murphy, who probably has the talent to succeed Shay Given for the Republic of Ireland if has can play regularly?
