FT Newcastle 4 - West Ham 0
Livewire striker Lomana LuaLua ensured that Newcastle launched their new Premiership campaign in style as they romped to a 4-0 victory over West Ham.

LuaLua's double inspires Newcastle
"If we finish fourth again, I will do a somersault," Sir Bobby Robson declared before kick-off, although they would have to be spectacular indeed to match the ones performed by Lomana LuaLua at St James' Park last night.
Independent Sport (http://sport.independent.co.uk/football/newcastle/story.jsp?story=325967)
Two second-half goals from Newcastle striker Lomano LuaLua sent the Magpies to the top of the Premiership after a convincing victory over West Ham.

Actually, the county where I teach has some sort of internet tracing device that red flags anything not deemed educational. So no, no posting on BS during the school day.
What about the fact that you are coaching and using the site as a resource to improve your abilities and those of the children you surround?

I just hope you wouldn't use the Hammers performance today as an example of how to play defense. ;)

Absolutely pathetic midfield play. Carrick was horrible. Cole can spin like a top with the ball at his feet but can he complete an effin' pass? I saw ball after ball in the midfield just given away over and over. The balls in the air were often won in the air by our midfielders, but where did they head the ball? Directly to Newcastle. I can't get over how bad Carrick was. Cisse at least stuck a boot in. But he couldn't do anything with the ball at his feet either. Sinclair was a no show. Poor Defoe running around with zero support. Just so embarrassing. I get optimistic before ever season and they prove me wrong (at least on the road) everytime.

my ratings:
(5-4-1)
James 7
Schemmel 6
Pierce 6
Repka 7
Dailly 6
Winterburn 6
Cisse 5.5
Carrick 3
Cole 4
Sinclair 4
Defoe 6 (wasn't even given a chance)
subs:
Moncur (for Cisse) NR
Labant (for Schemmel) NR
shows how pathetic are bench is that when we go down a goal we bring on a defender and a defensive midfielder. Big fat Camara was his only "offensive" choice.

Wow, did they look lost up front without DiCanio and Kanoute. Corners (what little they had) were AWFUL. Near post right to a Newcastle defender every time.
I thought they had the right idea and looked good in the first half bunkering down, but once the first goal came, a few more were inevitable.
Bad first game, but this team should be better.

Well.
If memeory serves correct, we started like crap last year and ended up fairly well. Get our injured players back and we might be ok.
But that was crap.

Unfortunate.
That defensive method only gives you so much, West Ham wored it down to the thread.
Carrick, Cole and Cisse need to work a lot better the midfield if we want to win, but while we have weak centerbacks, Monday's result is a message of things to come.
