On Aug 31, after UEFA announced the CL fixtures, Oliver announced the telecasts that

- will appear live on ESPN Latin America and TSN
- one of the two games will appear on ESPN2 in the U.S.

http://www.bigsoccer.com/forum/showthread.php?threadid=67501&perpage=15&pagenumber=2

Look at his post under the name "Vonitsa". He can change his name, but not the style of his post.

The problem is, at the time of his post, ESPN Latin America hasn't decided on the telecast yet. Unless he was the program director of ESPN Latin America, how did Oliver know which games they would televise?

Essentially, he fabricated a telecast schedule and posted it as if it's some sort of "inside info", like
he had inside info that ESPN Latin America would televise such and such games.

Now, into Matchday 2, how did he do in his guesses? These are the game he claimed to be on TSN and one of two on ESPN2:

Match day 1:
Tue: AC Milan x Ajax [X, actual game on ESPN Latin America/TSN: Real Madrid x Marseille]
Wed: Arsenal x Inter

Match day 2:
Tue: Deportivo x PSV [X, actual game on ESPN Latin America/TSN: Inter x Dynamo Kiev]
Wed: Porto x Real Madrid

He is exactly at .500. I guess that's very good if that's his batting average. I mean, this guy keeps scooping into new lows...

Arf ... Rangers and a girflriend.

No, he's just a desperate individual. I mean, he's kept a post about another poster's opinions loaded for nigh-on FIVE WEEKS. Just because this poster had the temerity to opine on matters television, which Rangers considers his exclusive domain. Well, it is his exclusive domain, in a life experience sense.

Poor sap. Just ignore him.

And you are still smarting from our exchange from how many years ago? from 2001? What an irony!

Well, your ignorance is still astounding...

When Oliver posted the schedule of game telecasts in his yahoo group and web-site, you think he was posting his OPINION?

Learned what? To view you with pity? Dude, that took me about three nanoseconds to learn. Anyone who has not seen the outside of their front door since 1973 deserves pity.

Had sex yet? With another person that is?

Toodle-ooh, Middle-aged Virgin Man!!!

to learn what Oliver's post was about. Of course, you have no ability to.

Anyone who has not seen the outside of their front door since 1973 deserves pity.

Are you talking about yourself. Let's see, you still post during your day release, am I right?

What's ironic is that you are smarting from my abuse from 2.5 years ago. Is it like an eternity compared to 5 weeks?

So, continue the grading. This is what Oliver announced as the ESPN2/TSN schedule of the Champions League in late August.

Match Day 3:
Tue: Juventus x Real Sociedad
Wed: Chelsea x Lazio [X, actual telecast just announced by ESPN Intl.: Real Madrid x Partizan Belgrade]

Match Day 4:
Tue: Lazio x Chelsea [X, actual telecast just announced by ESPN Intl: Man U x Rangers]
Wed: Real Sociedad x Juventus

In other words, his guesses are still at .500, 4 out of 8.

Sometimes I wonder why he made up a telecast schedule and posted it on his yahoo group. Does showing a schedule that far ahead, even before the real schedule actually exists, really give him the credibility that he is a TV "insider"?

OK, let's continue the grading.

Match day 5, Oliver's guesses:

Tuesday 11/25:
Inter x Arsenal

Wednesday 11/26:
Ajax x AC Milan [X, ESPN Intl's choice will be Marseilles x Real Madrid]

OK, so the final tally is in. Oliver made 10 guesses, and got 5 right, exactly at 50%. That tells you how accurate his "inside info" is...

Just for the fun of it. This is a down year for Ollie as far as his predictions are concerned...

Looks like one of Oliver's predictions has has proved false once again :)
Despite telling us for the past year that once ESPN Deportes launches full time in January ESPN 2 will drop the champions league, comes this gem from his own email update today:
"ESPN2 (US) will have US TV coverage for
UEFA Champions League, with one match per match day, through May 2004"

Great News!
And I wish I had a nickel....

ESPN probably decided that they didn't want to stop carrying Champions League in mid-season. They probably will switch entirely to ESPN Deportes for next year.
