FT: 1-0 Argentina
TBH - a pretty disappointing game - especially when compared to the 96 classic. A nice goal to win it but really not much action at all. I don't know why they play these olympic football finals in the midday heat - I think it takes away from the game.

Really stupid to play at 12:00pm ... it really does take away from it.

Argentina is a team of flopping fools that do discredit to the game. Just play the game instead of that nonsense. collapsing (yeah right) and refusing to get up... first time for everything :D
Nigeria played better, Argentina made it count when it matters most. Sometimes it goes that way.

I think the number of fouls reflect the reality my friend...

it also reflects the reality that flopping pays off.
no worries, I'd rather have a team that doesn't do that crap and loses.
must be something in the latin blood...

The ref doesn't call fouls for flopping.. he hands out yellows for those.
I'm sorry you don't understand the rules of the game..
You can't just kick and pull to get to the ball.. you have to steal the ball fairly

the ref calls fouls for flops that happen when the ball has otherwise been won fairly. sorry you don't understand why others make such a big deal of the way your type plays and FIFA feels compelled enough to try to erase that behaviour from the pitch

Well, all I can say is the ref knows what fouls are and he calls them. Nigeria can choose to play by the rules or foul and lose time/possession. It's quite simple really.
Plus, let me remind you that Argentina won the fair play award in the U21 world cup.
You have excuses, we have the gold and U21 world cup.
Nigeria played a good game, it could have gone their way.

Argentine fanboy... u are a bad winner.
Yes, Nigeria fouled more, although I can point to at least 3 so called fouls, where Messi and Mascherano basically flopped.
By the way: Argentine had more yellow cards than Nigeria :) And Nigeria has the least cards in the whole tournament and have won the fair play award this time around.
99% of Nigerian fouls were not blatant, mostly resulting from overeagerness. If we count professional fouls Argentine had way more of those. Also 'football fan' players like Messi play for a foul. They actually force the opponent to make a foul. And if the oponent doesn't foul, than Messi keeps the ball close enough to flop in right moment and get the call anyway.
Congrats on the win, but by downgrading Nigeria you are only showing you an a%s%ole.
btw: I really think Messi is a classplayer, but lets face it: Thats how he plays. Apart from the exquisite passes and great technique.

the only a%s%ole here are the people who try to take away from Argentina's achievements.
All Respect to Nigeria. They are the kings of africa and their skills are feared by all teams. But I will not accept someone coming up with excuses against Argentina.

I'm not saying that Argentine didn't deserve the win. They did. Albeit they wasn't much between the two teams... Basically Argentina has Messi, Nigeria didn't.
But it is you that's downgrading the oponents (and you that started it) by falsely trying to present Nigeria as persistent foulers, which is untrue. Yes. Argentine fouled less, but they also played for fouls.Naturally Nigeria will have more fouls than Argentina simply because that the SAs gameplay. All credit to Nigeria for playing a clean game.
Hence: Back off or you are an $s%hole.

I truly do not understand why Obasi didn't play. Nigeria lacked that touch of magic that Obasi showed in the 1/4 and the 1/2. Ogbuke was Nigeria's Messi and he was on the bench the whole match.
Apart from that great applause for Siasia, who tactically set up the team perfectly.
As for me the organizers killed the final... the decision to make the final at noon killed the game from the first minute.

Just to remind who started this fight.
So stop trolling and provoking quarrels. And just be happy with the win.

??? :D
Sorry. But I accept the loss. I don't accept making the Nigerians into something they are not. And if you didn't notice - I was trying to dissolve this pointless fight.
Now I suggest that you:
TAKE THE WIN LIKE A MAN. Not like babies.
People are funny... They start a fight and then start pointing fingers at others :)
Sorry. I'm getting off here. I don't feel like taking part in this childish game that you guys are promoting. Mommy, mommy, Nigeria has crooked teeth!!! Come on guys... Stop whining. YOU WON!
Why are you whining? Cuz you didn't win in style? Well... the organizers made this a joke of a game, not the teams, which really did their best.

What I don't understand is why nigeria did take more long shots just outside the box? that is their most killer skill.. as we saw against Belgium

that is their most killer skill.
no it isn't.
