It's not on FSC again? Ugh, screw FSC.
Score's going to be 5-0. Joe Cole to open the scoring, Lamps with 2, Anelka with 2.

Sentanta still has first bidding rights on several games IIRC.
Dont think we are going to win 5-0. Wigan isnt the easiest place to get a result and Heskey has always given us fits for some reason.

I predict a 1-1 draw.
Heskey to put Wigan ahead midway through the first half and Lampard equalising just after the break.

Not one to let sleeping dogs lie...eh...:D
Both Wigan generally and Bruce teams are hard to break down at home usually, so could be a very tough match, Ashton might aurgue though:D. Zaki could be a handfull, skilled and very strong, we better have our defence sorted, especially on set peices. Hope Ess is back.

FSC won't be showing a Chelsea match until September 13th - It all depends on the start time - the early Sunday game is always on Setanta - as is the early Saturday game (if there is one) - FSC gets the 12:30PM game on Saturdays and the 11AM game on Sundays

If Essien is healthy, he starts. Don't know what the weather is supposed to be like in Wigan but if it's rainy and muddy it'll be a true test of how Deco can cope with the north of England. I also hope that Deco doesn't tackle with reckless abandon, even if it was Diarra.

Prediction: 3-0 win for us with Lampard scoring two and Anelka getting one.

Ballack may be fit.
Doubt it though and if Essien is good to go then I expect they will hold Ballack out.

1-0 to the Chelsea. We'll be brought back down to Earth and made to win like would-be champions. Keep Ballack on the bench and use him as a sub if necessary. Hopefully Essien is fit, haven't heard ANYTHING about his injury. Does anyone even know what's wrong with him? Same formation as vs Pompey but Essien in for Ballack, providing a bit more width on the right and combining with Bosingwa. Our fullbacks will surely have to defend more this match but it won't matter much if we dominate the midfield, which I expect we will.

With no wingbacks, of course. It is very successful.

Telling from the posts in this thread....Wigan is now a better team than Portsmouth it seems.

Pompey played at Stamford Fortress in Scolari's first match, a huge day for Chelsea. Now the grind begins. We are now going to play early Sunday oop north. Wigan isn't that good but not every match will be a cakewalk. We may well win 3 or 4 nil, but a tough match is more likely.

It has been lacking lately? What did I miss today? Nothing from what I can tell, god bless the ignore function. Onto the game....
Im interested to see how the squad is rotated, and if Scolari sees fit to try Essien in MIkel's spot. Hard to take off any of Lampard, Ballack, Deco after the first match, but maybe Ballack is injured and makes it easy.
