While not all of us are signed up with the CArmy, just wondering if we could all agree to participate in something community oriented. Essentially mimicking the goals of the organization and placing ourselves in line for community involvement. I know a lot of us participate in corporate citizenship but just thought maybe we could all do something that not only was proper for the group but very effective for the Austin Metro Area.

Ideas could be posted and maybe we all could agree on something. Clearly we could ref youth league, food drive, fan drive, meals on wheels, etc. All in the name of the CArmy. Just a thought. It does not matter how "insignificant" it seems I think we have a good crew who post it would just be fantastic if we gave to the community on top of pints and half pints to ourselves.

No response in selfish or outlandish. We are all apart of the Universe(Willy Addy assumes meditation positions and humms).

My sentiments exactly Willy (crosses legs next to him)

I have been in volunteer organizations almost all my life, Boy Scouts, Youth ministry groups, church groups, homeschool groups. And it would be really cool to be apart of some community work, under the banner of a group that i myself, as an adult, have joined and acctually enjoy being a part of.

I am all for it "One for all and all for one. ;)"

I can agree to that.

In that spirit, how about something sport related? I like the Special Olympics or youth touney ref or something like that. I prefer to work with kids myself.

My son will be holding an auction for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society in either October or November. He will be doing it as a representative of the Aztex organization . I'll be posting more info later.

Sounds Good. Hey we all do something good and the silver lining is that we can kind of market one of our favorite things to do as well. Watch the Aztex.

Hey,
Maybe not quite what was intended here, but a worthwhile cause nonetheless, and maybe fun:
The Texas Homeless Network presents the Face the Homeless Film Fest, next Tuesday, Sept. 2, at the Alamo Ritz Downtown. Most notable: the Texas Premiere (sort of) of Kicking It, a documentary about the 2006 Homeless World Cup in Capetown, South Africa. That film is 3-5pm ($25); the full event is 8:30am-5pm ($75).
There's more info on the film at www.kickingitthefilm.com (http://www.kickingitthefilm.com); I have a PDF with more event info, posted on the Chronicle Sports blog (http://www.austinchronicle.com/gyrobase/Blogs/Sports) any minute now.
Also, the organizers say: "one of our local players on the Entourage Austin Street Soccer team got selected to play on an 8 member national team that will be flying to Australia for the international competition in December. He will be at the event to answer questions about his experience along with other players."

Like I said, it's a little off topic (and a weekday event probably isn't easy for anyone's schedule), but the THN is a good organization, and I'm sure anyone showing up in Aztex colors would be greatly appreciated.
