And winner of the cut your nose off to spite your face award this week is -
*drumroll*
Juande Ramos
If you don't think Berbatov's heads in the right place then why even have him in the squad. Nice way to lose any chance of getting a result in the North East on opening day...
Can't wait for him to transfer to Man Utd and get me goals goals goals. :D
Still got 5 players to play today and even if I do say so myself my choice of captain was an inspired move. ;)

So pissed when I saw Ashton was your captain:pChelsea giving Pompey the runaround here, brilliant start to the season:)Essien is out as I predicted so Wheater comes off my bench for megapoints.

Corluka, Barry and Ballack gave my score and air of respectability this week.
I'm a bit gutted as I was thinking of subbing Davies in for Hughes but then I thought Fulham would be good enough to keep a clean sheet against Hull.
Still, a solid enough opening from the Saturns, hope Ballack isn't too badly injured.

Ballack will be fine, just precautionary because he isn't at all fit due to not participating in pre-season. Abgonlahor comes up with that monster day that ********s everything up. 57 points I'll have, could have been better if Wenger wasn't dicking around with Toure.

57 for me as well.
Blamed on Ramos. As I said earlier you either leave Berbatov out altogether or you play him from the start. He's their best player. Stupid to use him as a sub in that situation.
And Carrick got taken off after 20mins... :(
My one mistake this week was not playing Bosingwa. I didn't think he would make it. I should have had him in and then let the autosub work in due course if he didn't play.
Won my head to head 57-55 though. :)

Carrick out for two to three weeks.
Ashton out for a small period of time.
Spurs defense AWOL as per.
Decisions decisions. And its only the first week!
I can take the Ashton injury. He's going to have too good a season to let go cheaply. Carrick on the other hand... not sure if I can do without a mid for a few weeks. Not sure quite how much Carrick was going to contribute for me as well.
Bale may get a stay of execution. After all, they're home to Sunderland next week. :)
EDIT: Damn! Just noticed Michael Johnson got both assists for City today and I had him on the bench in favour of Zoltan 'can I get a bigger barn door to hit' Gera. D'oh.

My midfield is lacking, but hopefully Essien and Downing can carry the midfield until I pick out some good replacements. Pretty happy with my team but 3 Portsmouth players to start against Chelsea the ManUre next week isn't the best situation.

THANK THE LORD FOR AGBONLAHOR! Pushed me up to 3rd with a brilliant performance, and a nice little assist by Giggsy.
What was I thinking putting Bentley as captain ahead of Agbonlahor! I'd be well clear at the top if I had chosen him! I honestly thought Spurs would break down Boro for 3 goals after that romping performance they had against Roma!
Sheesh....I need MUCH MUCH more from Rooney and my back 3 in the coming weeks if I have a prayer.
HMMMM, Diouf ahead of Schole as well???? Decisions to be made, but a nice foundation with which to build 3rd in the league, 3 points in both head to head and the All Rocks Golden Boot. THat'll do nicely.
PS-any bets on who makes panic transfers first????

I have that sown up. ;)

with the gutierrez transfer???? sounds logical.
my hreidarsson for djourou (-4 points) looks like a panic transfer......but it really isn't! just seems more logical long-term. plus frees up space to bring in a quality midfielder or striker as those seem to be my "weakest" areas.

Got to start saving the cash for the end of August. There has to be at least two WOW transfers around then.
Of course I'll be hoping one of them is Berbs to Man Utd. That would set my front line up a treat and not cost me a penny.
I'm bloody hooked on this thing. Already working out my team for next weekend and this weekend has just ended. :o

ya i am hooked too! we had quite the nice golden boot match whereby I pipped ya 6-5! thanks to agbonny.
i haven't sorted my team for next week yet though....
some really tough choices...will diouf hit sunderland's first....do i release him for an "upgrade" until kenwyne jones returns??? scholesy will still be in united's first eleven so he must surely be in mine as well!!! hmmmmmm decisions, decisions.

nevermind, just read giggsy is out 2 weeks with a hammy...scholes is in. automatic selection. taylor remains firmly on the bench depending on everton's next opponent.

I'm worried about Wenger messing around with Toure. Djourou had a good game but is nowhere near Toure's level. Other than that I'm not panicking with any transfers yet, though I am interested to see how Pompey bounce back at home to United next week.

No panic transfers yet.
The board of Sasha Juniors is wondering when Ronaldo will be fit.
So tought to judge the beginning of the season. Remember the ride up of price of Siebierski from Wigan? 2 goals in 3 weeks then nothing.
Was ManU that bad or was Newcastle that good?
I think Toure was not playing because he had malaria this summer and West Brom was a sure thing. I certainly hope that Wenger decides to start van Persie or my two most expensive players are both benchers.

Pompey will be great against MUFC after two tough losses to them already this year - however, Tevez will be back and United's kids will want to impress desperately. I missed all but the first 25. MUFC were playing great possession-wise and Campbell missed a glorious chance from about 4 yards which Given knew NOTHING about - brilliant Rooney cross with the outside of his right boot.
Djourou will get loads of time and I am happy with him as my 3rd/4th defender in a platoon with Steven Taylor.
Now about Yobo.....!? I hear Wes Brown is available!

Was ManU that bad or was Newcastle that good?
Newcastle usually get pumped at Old Trafford. Probably a bit of both but I still think Gutierrez showed more than enough to prove that in a Keegan team, and at home, he'll be heavily involved.
Could he be a shock pick at captain for me this week? Who knows... :)

You can't be serious! That was one of the best headed goal line clearances I've ever seen. :D

What is this dust league, is it like the EPL, Times fantasy league?
bettermirror
20 Aug 2008, 10:30 AM
it's on the fantasy.premierleague.com web page. it's a fantasy draft done by the 8 league members. thus no two teams have the same player. there are a lot of leagues in the ALL ROCKS fantasy league - dust is the bottom. so basically the newbies and the relegated guys from last year are in this league.
