Excellent signing, both for Kroos and Leverkusen, as discussed in the Bayern forum already.
Wish Allofs would finally wake up and do similar deals...

Bayer Leverkusen has secured Bayern wunderkind Toni Kroos on a season and a half loan.
I think this move could actually make the difference for you guys in a title run if you guys can get Kroos to live up to his potential.
For Bayern, this is either a very bold move or very f#cking stupid one.
Kicker Story Here (http://www.kicker.de/news/fussball/bundesliga/startseite/artikel/503794/)
yeah, just wow.
this could turn out really well for german football.
kroos learns to play with helmes and decides he wants to stay with leverkusen ;)

That won't be up to him. If he helps Bayer the way I think he might, Bayern will definitely take him back at the end of the loan.
It's not like Hummels and Dortmund where BVB still won't be a danger to them.
If Kroos becomes the difference in the Leverkusen midfield, Bayern won't think about letting him stay there.
Anyhow, you have a new place to continue your hero-worship of the kid......... :D

yeah, of course no way that bayern will let him stay if he turns out good for leverkusen. Still...kroos himself can have a say if he decides to speak up in a year and a half. Appeal to bayern's human side a little ;)

Bild reports Bayern can take him back this summer already, in that case Leverkusen would get a compensation.
It also emerges that Kroos wanted to go to Leverkusen and Leverkusen's management was more puzzled than excited by that fact but of course took the present.

Well, it makes sense for Kroos, since Bayer are a well run club, have an attacking philosophy and play a system that suits his style. No wonder that he was so eager to join them.
I really can't see Kroos going back to Bayern this summer already. Yes, Bayern may have the option to call him back, but they won't do that against his will, and it's rather obvious that he'll want to stay there after just settling in.

So Gekas is off to Portsmouth on loan.
Does this mean that Sukuta-Pasu will get a chance finally?

Maybe but I guess it means that Eren Derdiyok is signing.
Edit: Apparently they got Charisteas from Nuremberg. Don't know what to think about that.

It means they won't get Derdiyok until summer and they needed a spot filled. ;)

I'd rather have Gekas than Charisteas....but I guess Gekas is more happy being away from Leverkusen and Charisteas could be more hungry. I'd be surprised though if Charisteas gets a start unless Kiessling or Helmes get injured.

I don't think its a bad aquisition. Charisteas is past his peak but he is a vetted Bundesliga player who probably has no unrealistic demands to be a starter. That said, he should be a good backup. I do hope Labaddia gives RSP a chance or two.

I think both Gekas and Charisteas are useless.

At least Gekas has shown he can score before.
Charisteas on the other hand.

Dude, Gekas had one fantastic season and one "good" season.
You ever heard of "one-hit wonders" in music?
Well, they happen in football too.
A notable recent Bundesliga "one-hit wonder" is Nuernberg's Marek Mintal........
Oh, BTW TOLH, Charisteas has 24 goals in 90 Bundesliga appearances, so he has shown he can score before.
He just hasn't done it well recently for FCN, which brought on my "useless" comment.
Gekas has just put in more in two seasons. If he were really all that, he'd be starting ahead of scrub ass Kiessling.
I think they are both "useless" at this moment, but if I had to choose between the two, I'd definitely choose Charisteas. He's at least scored in the Bundesliga for more than two seasons.

I'd choose Gekas - on Charisteas's record: 24 goals in 90 appearances is nothing to boast about for a striker, and it doesn't include the stint he had in Holland, when his record was even poorer.
Kiessling I think is a good striker, his finishing is at times very poor, but he creates chances for his teammaters, is quick, is good at off-the ball movement, has a powerful shot. His accuracy will improve with time I feel, he's not Helmes, but I do feel he is a solid striker and helps his team well and deserves to start at Leverkusen. The fact that Gekas is a substitute there isn't because he's bad, it's because his two teammates in my opinion are good.
and besides the one wonder season, Gekas has shown flashes of that year in recent seasons as well: despite not starting at Leverkusen he's still been able to make his mark on games quite a few times in the 'supersub' role. He's demonstrated he can still score goals.
And sure I agree he's no star, but he's a solid striker. Charisteas on the other hand was quite good at Bremen but was always benched behind Ailton and Klasnic, and since then failed in Holland with BOTH Ajax and Feyenoord, and since coming back to Germany has this record: 6 goals for FCN in 24 games, 20 of which were as a starter, and now 1 goal in 14 2. LIGA! games. That's very poor.
I also would opt for neither of the two strikers if I could choose, but if the choice had to be made, i'd side with TOLH on this one.

I didn't say it was anything to boast about. But TOLH made it seem as if Charisteas has never done shit in the Bundesliga. That isn't true.

Kiessling in my opinion should be an attacking midfielder. I'm not good in my comments to him because it is a long-standing grudge from his FCN days. I think he's a big p#ssy who would be unstoppable if he weren't such a little bitch on the pitch.

The numbers show that yes, but even when your teammates are Kiessling and Helmes, if you're good enough, you'll get your shots. Gekas just got f#cking lazy on Leverkusen.
And sure I agree he's no star, but he's a solid striker. Why do you think my original comments about him were that he's USELESS??!!
But I'd still rather than him than Gekas! Charisteas at least works for his teammates. Gekas is a selfish poacher, which is why he won't work with Labbadia's way of playing.
I also would opt for neither of the two strikers if I could choose, but if the choice had to be made, i'd side with TOLH on this one.
Exactly. I don't like either one, but if forced, give me Charisteas. I can do more with him and his height.
If I want a simple poacher with no other skills, then yes, give me Gekas.
As I said from the beginning, as far as I'm concerned, they're both useless.

First BL match for Leverkusen in Düsseldorf
(because of construction works in L´kusen).
- a new BL spectators record is expected
(the old was about 25000, today at least 30000 are expected)
- the pitch looks bad, but it will be changed after the match
for the NT playing there on Wednesday

Thanks EE. I'm wondering where all those people are who were proclaiming Labbadia the greatest coach in the first half of the season.
New team, same old shit. Excellent one match, crappy the next.
Just goes to show you that from time to time, it isn't the old coach's fault......

They just need to get that winning mentality, they have the quality to be a great team.
