This one is for those of you breaking your arms to pat Labbadia on the back and prematurely calling him a "great coach."
You guys do have a full TWO more points than you did at halfway point of last season.
You guys have the same amount of losses, but one more victory than draw than at this point last season.
Wow. WHAT AN IMPROVEMENT!!!
Despite arguably having better personnel than you did last season at FOUR POSITIONS (Henrique, Kadlec, Augusto and Helmes), you have just two more points.
Wow. What a great coaching job.
And what's funnier is that despite having two more points, you're one place lower in the standings than at the halfway point of last season.
You guys are in fifth place now. At this point last season, you were fourth.
I'll tell you this. The main reason I'm sending this message is not because I don't like Bayer Leverkusen. I like Bayer. I always have. There's no "official" friendship between Bayer and BVB, but I believe there's always been an "unspoken one."
I'm sending this message because some of you acted like I was being ridiculous when I said Labbadia wasn't the difference from last season, but your new players were and that Skibbe would have done just as well or better if he had these new players.
Well, I think the fact that Skibbe DID just as well with a WORSE team proves my point.
Yes, I know there's half a season to go, but I really think this "Labbadia=Great Coach" bullshit is really premature.
Again, all he's had to do is not f#ck things up. And for the most part, he hasn't.
Although, I will say I was very disappointed to see that you guys still shit your pants when Bayern comes to town...... :(
You do make a great point. A lot of improvements to say the least, and still no real improvements looking at how many points they have won..

I am sure people have seen the Kicker Online report and the re-quoting of it at transfermartk.de (http://www.transfermarkt.de/de/news/25084/lars-bender-soll-2010-nach-leverkusen-wechseln.html) that Lars Bender is on his way to Leverkusen in 18 months. I personally think this is a load of crap, for why would anyone sign a contract 18 months out? Especially when their stock keeps rising and rising.
Any word from Leverkusen sources as to if this is true or not?

Garry, if they comment, it won't be before tomorrow. I trust "Kicker" on this one.
Honestly, when it comes to POACHING talent these days, Leverkusen is no better than Bayern.
I'd better not see any Leverkusen fan complain when Bayern comes for their players before one year to six months out again.

Yes, Leverkusen is already famous in breaking the "make signing with signing players from other clubs at most 6 months before end of contract".
But hey, why is there such agreement, when breaking it has no consequences.
This question must be aswered by the associations, club representators,
who made it ... ?

Actually, I have no issue with it if it is true. I just wonder why a promising young talent would lock into something NOW when their stock is on the rise. Its like OPEC promising to sell gas at today's price having no idea what the market will truly bear in 18 months. Just stupid. But if Bender is that friggin' dumb then he deserves it. For the record, both he and 1860 are saying there is no deal. I mean, who knows where Leverkusen will be at the end of the 2010 season? Why take such a gamble?

There is no "rule" in place anymore EE. Remember? The DFB abolished that rule to prevent themselves from having to punish Bayern over the Kehl/Deisler affair when Bayern was caught red-handed cheating (paying them under the table to not re-sign with their clubs) to acquire these two players before they were within six months of the end of their contracts back in 2001-2002.
The other clubs have adhered to a protocol that pretty much follows the old rule, but two clubs have made a habit of breaking this protocol.
Bayern and Leverkusen.
As we know, Bayern used it to "steal" Ismael and Klose from you guys. Bayer has used it to snatch talents like Helmes and SC Freiburg's Schwaab (joining Bayer next season).
As I wrote over in the 1860 thread, these deals are still illegal in every other European country.

Congratulations on another great move by Bayer!
Renato Augusto extends at Leverkusen through 2013-14 season (http://www.goal.com/en/news/1229/bayer-leverkusen/2009/01/15/1061530/official-augusto-commits-long-term-future-to-bayer-leverkusen)
I don't think he'll stay the entire length of the contract, but I think you guys will have him at least two more seasons before you sell him on for BIG MONEY!
Again, congratulations!

I heard Renato was voted 3rd best player in the Bundesliga in Kicker magazine. Can anyone get me a direct source/link?
EDIT: Hopefully he does leave for big money, that way my club gets more :)

I can't get you a link because I don't think it's true.
He's currently tied for sixth place of the top Bundesliga players by Kicker.
You can find that information at this link. (http://www.kicker.de/news/fussball/bundesliga/topspieler/)
In a player vote for "Best Foreigner In The Bundesliga" for the first half of the season, he didn't even finish in top five.
However, he did finish second behind Ribery among offensive midfield wingers for the first half of the season. You can find that at this link. (http://www.kicker.de/news/fussball/bundesliga/vereine/artikel/502293)
EDIT: Hopefully he does leave for big money, that way my club gets more :)
I think he will eventually do so if he keeps playing the way he is and continues to improve. If he becomes more consistent in his good play, I can easily see him at Real Madrid or Barcelona in the future.
I was very skeptical of him at first, but he showed his quality.

I haven't really watched him much, but I was looking at his stats and was disappointed he hasn't scored many goals. Maybe it's because of his role, but do you know if he has taken any long distance shots? That was his strength at Flamengo.

Bayer has acquired former Hertha BSC Berlin goalkeeper Gabor Kiraly to hold down the 3rd goalkeeper spot at Bayer.
The 32-year-old Kiraly joins Bayer from English club Burnley FC on a free transfer. The Hungarian goalkeeper signed a contract through the end of the season.

Hi blokes, I'm from CFCnet forums. Obviously, Chelsea have just signed one of your youngsters, Gohkan Tore, and I was just wondering if many of you had seen him playing before.
If so, could you give me a quick run down on what kind of player he is? We're all very curious on the forums.

Bayer Leverkusen has secured Bayern wunderkind Toni Kroos on a season and a half loan.
I think this move could actually make the difference for you guys in a title run if you guys can get Kroos to live up to his potential.
For Bayern, this is either a very bold move or very f#cking stupid one.
