Go Neuer!

Neuer is a better assist man. Not sure if he's a better keeper :D

adler looks like he belongs in the national jersey for a long long time starting from right now.

helmes played and looked lively today...hopefully the start of a great career. I have a feeling he will become for the dfb what everyone thought gomez would be

Sorry about the Klose mispelling. I typed Klose but I guess spellcheck changed it. I use to like England but England has no creativity and they have played poorly over the past few years. They need some work, major work.

No need to apologize on Klose. I wasn't trying to be "nasty" or anything. Just wanted to give you the correct spelling.

On England, I think they are slowly getting back on the right track. Their problem is their coach has to teach them the game the rest of the world plays. The Premiership game just doesn't translate well to the international game.

Sort of like how NBA Basketball doesn't translate to international basketball, so we had to get our pros to play the international game together longer to get back to the top in Beijing.

Now that we've got that out of the way, how do you think Bayer will do at Frankfurt on Saturday??

Adler looked a bit shaky on a couple of balls, but that is nothing you won't get from any other keeper either.

I don't think he's won the job just yet, but he's definitely the number one contender. Without question.

Dude, that reads like you're writing Gomez off already.

Do you know that Gomez is even YOUNGER than Helmes???

Helmes is 24, born 1 March 1984, Gomez is 23, born 10 July 1985.

I think they may wind up being Germany's FUTURE strike force. I don't think it has to be one or the other.

I think those two, along with 23 year-old Lukas Podolski, will be part of Germany's striker set-up for a long time to come.

Klose is 30. He may be around three or four more years at the most. And it would not surprise me if in the course of these next three or four years, Klose is unseated by one of these young guns.

Especially if Helmes keeps up the performances he's given for Leverkusen so far.

and it's not just the rating him by the tangibles, but he has the intangible presence for his defenders like lehmann had. Well maybe not as much yet, but he has it.

And I am not writing gomez off, but I think that helmes will be the one who is as good as people thought gomez would be for germany. Gomez, he and podolski will be the top 3 strikers i'm guessing, and yeah klose could be unseated before his natural retirement for sure. Nobody does the setting up and roaming as well as he does at the moment.

This has nothing to do with Helmes since I really rate him and think he's an excellent striker.

But I really don't get what you mean with Gomez. Gomez is REALLY REALLY YOUNG. He became German Champion when he was 21. He was the league's second top scorer, whilst missing a quarter of the season, when he was 22(and I may add, when Helmes was playing, and scoring less, in the 2. Liga). He's now 23. And you're writing as if he was a Lars Ricken-type player and is now in his thirties and never made it. That makes no sense to me.

I know you have a bias against him, shit even in the short time period where he was scoring the most goals for Germany and VfB in the spring of last year you didn't want him to start the Euros. I can now admit that you were right on that one and I was wrong, Germany clearly did better after he was out of the starting side(Though I think Bild's / ScheissBayern's rumor mill may have also had something to do with that...), but either way there's no doubt that you were correct there.

But to now count Gomez out?? Or to start writing a biography on him while he's only in his FOURTH season playing regularly??? I don't buy that, that's the sort of opinion you'd read in the most primitive of tabloids.

Now, in my opinion, Helmes and Gomez BOTH hint towards a good good future for German football. Podolski as well of course, though he's already established himself what seems like ages ago. And I think supporters of Germany should be over the moon about that. Not start writing off whichever one hasn't scored for the NT in a couple of months. Hell, you tolerate Klose going 3834844968702 matches without playing well, and then whenever a Finland-type match comes around and he actually does well for once in six months, he's celebrated. I'd say other strikers would deserve equal treatment, regardless of who they are, and particularly if they clearly have ability.

Oh, and I now scrolled down and realised much of this has been discussed. MY bad :embarrassed:

But I still think my points stand.

i just said that i think that for the dfb, helmes will be as good as people thought gomez would be for the dfb. And klose went so many matches without a goal but his other work for the team is much better than gomez and better than everyone else we have, so he deserved to stay. Why should I have a bias against gomez. It's only based on the fact that he looks uncomfortable and out of place in the dfb side compared to the other 3 here.

anyway, the next post should be in the dfb thread regarding this :D

here is copy from Bayer04 web-site
about the derby against Cologne
good statistic:

http://www.bayer04.de/b04e/en/_site_index.aspx

"The last derby between Bayer 04 and 1 FC Köln was more than two years ago. The previous 46 encounters have produced 15 wins, 20 draws and 11 defeats for the Werkself...

Cologne have now been waiting for over 11 years to win the Rhine derby. Their last success was in May 1997 when Toni Polster bagged a hat-trick in the 4-0 win against Christoph Daum’s Leverkusen side."
