Hi
I am a Leverkusen fan. I am from the United States. I became a fan oddly enough by playing with the team on a soccer video game. Then one day I caught the real team and since I recognized some of the players by name, I became a fan instantly. This was back in 2000 or so. Back then there was not alot of coverage of the Bundesliga but not Gol TV covers the greatest league on Earth so I can watch German football and on occassion if Im lucky my team brought to you by Bayer.
I caught their first game and as usual I was disappointed, lol. Dartmund outplayed us and we deserved to loose that one, Dartmund was the better side that day. I know e did not do well today, we had a lead but were outplayed according to the Bundesliga site. Any place where I can find highlights of matches? Im looking for merchandise here in the States for Bayer 04!!!!
I miss Berbatov!!
Why on Earth is Gecko not starting? He is a good striker, would be nice to see him and Barnetta up top

Managed to catch the match against Hannover on a stream just now (I missed the first two goals though). Very enjoyable and it was nice to see a clean sheet. Helmes and Barnetta were outstanding. I hope we can keep up this momentum and be in a good position to at least regain a European spot. Ah well, early days yet.

Wow, what a huge win tonight!
Bruno Labbadia imported the same offensive style he did play in Fürth last season.

You badly need some good glasses, dude! :-) Leverkusen clearly dominated that game.
Btw: It's called Dortmund and not Dartmund...

I became of Leverkusen because of video game too, FIFA 02 i think when they had Ballack and ZeReberto. Finally got to watch them today. Is Hannover that bad this year? Because that was an asswhipping.

Leverkusen is pretty good and yes we are that bad.

I have to say great loan signings (well for one year) you guys have. Both the left back and the center back are doing a very good job so far and both very young too! You guys should do everything possible to buy them at the end of the season.

Yeah, I know I mispelled Dortmund :(
BVB has been playing very well. Dortmund v Hannover is one of the wo Bundesliga matches on Gol TV. Looking forward to it. Dortmund will win 3-1 and Bremen will lose. Hope that BL can pick up the victory tomorrow. Someone earlier mentioned that they caught the game via a stream, is this stream/feed is free? Feel free to post the link. I thought I remembered there was a site that streamed Bundesliga matches for $20 or so.
I think we will have a new leader by week's end....Hopefully BL can be the King of the Hill

Lets wait and see his first 2 games before finalizing the deal please? Or more reasonably, a year once all the keepers get their chances.

Who is the other young GK contending for the #1 spot? Based on Adler's performance on Saturday, he deserves another start to see what he can do but will the "other guy" get the nod from the coach?
Maybe Helmes will get a shot. Replace Close, he should give someone who can actually put the ball in the net up top.
My comments on the game was that it was quite entetainming!! My favorite national team after the USA of course is now Germany. I love Bundesliga/German football, Im even thinking of moving to Germany!!
Subs should have come in a bit soner to help with defense and midfield. A bit of a nail biter near the end. The trip to Moscow ought to be a goood one

Schalke's Manuel Neuer.

Right now, I think Adler is benefiting from two things.
1) Enke's injury: I think Enke had the inside track to being the next #1. I think Low really likes Enke's international club experience.
2) Neuer's injury: I think Neuer and Adler were level with one another before Neuer got hurt. However, Adler put himself clearly in front with his performance against Russia.
Neuer didn't do himself any favors with a bad performance for the Germany U-21s.
Like his pouting club teammate Kuranyi, I think Neuer let his frustration get the best of him.
Which if that is a problem, he will never get ahead of Adler.
I do believe Neuer is just as talented as Adler, if not more talented. However, Adler kicks Neuer's ass when it comes to nerve. I didn't see that before, but I do now.
Maybe Helmes will get a shot. Replace Close, he should give someone who can actually put the ball in the net up top.
Dude, the guy's name is KLOSE. It is pronounced "CLO-SEH".
And it's pretty popular to pick on him right now. I agree that Helmes should play, but not ahead of Klose. Maybe ahead of Podolski.
Klose is a guy who sets up his teammates a lot better than anyone else on the team maybe save for Schweinsteiger.
My comments on the game was that it was quite entetainming!!
Totally agree. The Russian fightback in the second half was quite impressive. Germany's play in holding them off was also quite impressive, especially Adler's performance. I believe without Adler's performance, Germany would have lost.
Just as Germany would have lost in Finland without Klose's performance.
My favorite national team after the USA of course is now Germany.
After the USA, mine is England and then Germany. It has to do more with friends than where I live with me.
I love Bundesliga/German football
Totally agree there.
Im even thinking of moving to Germany!!
Good luck with that! This is a great place to live. Fortunately or unfortunately for me, I work with the Department of Defense here, and we have a five-year rotation policy, so I can only live here five years at a time as long as DoD hires me here.
Subs should have come in a bit soner to help with defense and midfield. A bit of a nail biter near the end. The trip to Moscow ought to be a goood one
Well, I think Low doesn't have the utmost confidence in many of his substitute players. He seems to stick with the same 13 every time.

Mine is Germany and then Ecuador in a close second...though I am as American as can be despite my parents being both off the boat, my third favourite team is any team that plays against Argentina (personal reasons off-course). But hell, this is the Bayer thread. ;)

And if you look at the rest of that message, it started out with discussion on Adler. :)
