Update: Bale signed a contract extension with Tottenham through the summer of 2012, Setanta Sports reports.
Analysis: Bale missed much of the second half of last season after a ligament sprain in his ankle, but has been training with Tottenham and is expected to be ready for the start of the English Premier League season.
