Looks like Simon wants to get a look at the new guys. Sure wish he was taking this a little more seriously, IMHO. :(

Please blow the whistle was exactly what I was calling for, to put us out our misery. It seems that Blackpool players just aren't aware that in order to score a goal they have to get that round thing called a ball into the big net.

First though, the attendance was given as 1,641, and there were probably a good 800 there if not more from Blackpool so it didn't feel like an away game considering we probably did have more fans in the ground than Macc had. Blackpool started the match very positively, and when Burgess goal was dis-allowed for offside early on, it just seemed only a matter of time before we scored and went on to win handsomly. Yet somehow we managed not only to lose but in the second half make Macclesfield look the better team.

Again we were without three strikers in McPhee, Kabba and Nardiello (with both Kabba and Nardiello yet to even play a game for the Seasiders!) and Claus Bech Jorgenson joined the injury list and he was sat with Shaun Barker in with the 'Pool fans who were sat in the dry rather than standing behind the goal (where they got soaked at half time as it poured down)

With Joe Martin back fully fit he played at left=back in only his second ever professional game, so a big ask for the lad. But we shoould have won. We had 13 shots in the match, they had a total of 5. We totally dominated the 1st half, but were awful in the 2nd half. Zeshan Rehman, a defender, was brought on part way through the 2nd half to make his debut for the club, but had to play up front as we are so short of strikers.

All we are saying - is give us a goal!

Very strong rumours today that we are close to signing Cameroon international Joseph Desire-Job who was supposedly at Bloomfield Road last Saturday. Whatever, we need someone in soon who can get the ball in the net!

Having said all this, other Championship teams were knocked out by lower leagye teams tonight including Norwich City who we face on Saturday. They took 2,000 fans to watch them play at Milton Keynes Dons, no doubt expecting to win, yet they also lost. As did Plymouth Argyle who lost 2-0 at League Two crisis club Luton Town. And Sheffield Wednesday were knocked out at home by League Two Rotherham United, their local rivals who ironically are having to play their home games in Sheffield at the Dons Valley Athletics stadium this season due to financial difficulties and problems with their landlords at their stadium in Rotherham.

Ah well, I'm sure we will score a goal sometime this season!!!

How seriously did Grayson take this match? Do you think he was more interested in seeing what the new people can do? Why wasn't Rachubka in goal?

Inquiring minds want to know.... :D

and yes, all we are saying...is please score a goal!!!!!

I think the fact that there were a few shock results tonight says a lot about the Championship clubs not taking the cup as seriously as their lower league counterparts.

Gilks I imagine played to give him a full match and why Rabs was on the subs bench. Trouble is that he was probably at fault for both goals, which were both messy goals. Rehman did ok when he came on, but he played totally out of position up front. So whilst it is a pain losing to Macc, it is not a disaster, it is only the League Cup and the league has to be priority. As does getting the three strikers back fit and maybe bringing in Job, who would be the clubs highest ever profile signing.

One more thing was their fans and bear in mind there were probably more of us than them which was odd, but they were a friendly lot. We chatted with one Macc fan before the game and ended up going to the pub with him for a drink before the match. Something great to see and unfortunately not very common.

In certain parts of MLS, this is actually quite common...so long as it's not rivals, most club fans have no problem sitting down with others and talk...but there are others where it's just not really done.

Anyway, after reading the PBP, sounds like a dreadful effort by the 'pool. What the heck? Guess it's not a bad idea to go ahead and look at the new guys and give them time...also lesson the load on the schedule..at least there is that...:o :(

Now we can concentrate on league play!
