He is so similar and so different from Ronaldo it is shocking.

One the one hand, he runs down blind alleys and makes bad decisions, causing frustration of his teammates, especially the primadona forward (Ruud/Berbatov w/ Ronaldo/Nani). However, one of the biggest knocks on Ronaldo was that he had little end product.

The same can't be said of Nani who in the midst of having a game where he wastes the ball a great deal and makes horrendous decisions, he will create a goal or score one. The great thing about him is that so long as you invest time with him there will be an end product. Even if he has a crap game, there will be some top quality crosses and there is always the chance of a wonder goal built on a long run, or a sharp turn to make space. When he matures and becomes more consistent he'll be a real asset. The only way for that to happen though, is giving him more matches than he's currently getting.

I dont know how it is frustrating to see such a skilful player, I could watch guys like him play football all day, wingers are generally inconsistent specially when they are young, I dont get the crucified campaign against him.

Wait, wait, wait Scholes didn't get his goal? It was on target...

Great potential, but he may end up like Ricardo Queresma. Talented but unless he can put in down on the grass and make something happen he'll just be a box of tricks for the rest of his career. Denilson was the same when he moved to Betis and he became the biggest flop in football.

Nani needs to focus. If he concentrates his mind of beating a man, or producing a ball into the box, or getting his shots on target, then he could be great.

There is no danger of Nani becoming Quaresma. For starters, Nani whilst confident is not entirely self-centred like Quaresma. Qdog is so full of himself that it is an effort for him to hit a cross traditional style. He must hit everything with the outside of the boot. He is only show and self, no substance and team. When Quaresma is involved in a great team goal it is because what he tried came off and others were able to benefit or he benefit from others. It has nothing to do with decision making or chemistry or forethought on his part.

Nani though, is a considerate player. He has his moments and he's inconsistent, but he's shown an ability to plug into what the team needs and do it. He's already got more end product than we'd see from Quaresma given similar chances.

I have to agree with the points made by Johno. Nani is no where near to become a "Quaresma". For starters, Nani actually utilizes his left foot in crossing and shooting, while I think Quaresma has a disease on his left foot, that gets irratable when it makes sufficent and consistent contact with a ball. Actually I don't even need to go any further with the 2 comparisons.

Anyways, while on the topic of Q. Quaresma better be careful, because Eliseu from Malaga was called up today, and could very well replace Quaresma permantely on the Seleccao if he doesn't change his ignorant, ignorant, ignorant attitude.

P.S: I mean I love the god damn trivela, he does it and is one of the best at that skill...but honestly, every god damn time?!?! Its supposed to be utilized in a way that catches defenses off guard, not in a way where he gets blocked every single time at this point. Where they know hes not going to use his left foot:rolleyes:

Based on that list, I think Govou, Alonso, and Owen might be overpaid. Ballack too. Just a little bit.

It might be my jeolously talking though.

He does it even when he could shoot/pass normally with his right! He's addicted to that technique.

I did not realize that was Scholes' first goal of the season. No wonder he has looked so hungry lately.

Dont get your hopes up. When DS sobers up from his Scholes Clinic high, he will realize the mistake he made, and that it was actually an own goal by the keeper because he touched it first...

I'm mad that DS is discrediting O'Legend's inch perfect pass to Berba for the goal yesterday. DS said O'Shea 'miscontrolled' it.

that's insane.. O'Shea is one of those players who knows what he's capable of. He'd never attempt a lunging control in the box. He may not have got the kind of contact he wanted, but his intent was to play the ball across the box and that is what happened. DS is soooo stingy. Shit, O'Shea orchestrated that move with his pass, run and then cross.
