All this...cryin'...just tells me I'm the right main for the job.

Heaven knows what butchered state the charts would be in with one of you wusses at the helm.

Lampard's lucky I'm not his official goal auditor/assessor..

As you were, ladies.

*tips hat.

How was Nani's pass today not an assist... It was a direct pass to rooney...the blackburn defender touching it made no difference to the dangerousness of the pass, or the fact that it led to the goal

If deflections of that sort were accredited as goals and/or assists, the stats would be bogus and inflated through the roof.

The CB's touch was important as it offset the keeper. Rooney may well have scored anyway, but we'll never know.

Then how many goals and assists do Lampard and Gerrard have for the season combined...2?

If someone intentionally tries to feed a teammate and succeeds, despite the best efforts of the opposition to prevent it, then they clearly merit the assist. This thread is now bordering on the ridiculous.

Clearly deflections should always count as own goals, then.

Are all of you just barely starting to realize that DS is a self-important narcissist?

You are being too harsh on some statistics, I think you enjoy creating huge controversies;)

Not really. People are far too soft regarding these things. Giving out goal and assists like candy, which just eschews stats.

i'm fairly certain that when (if?) Anderson scores, DS will find a way to discount the goal. At this point, the proletarians (everyone other than DS) will cause an uprise.

Good luck. All you will find a a series of high tech computer programs cleverly written to appear as if human.

Bots we call them in cyberspeak!

You are right, we need to retroactively take away Fletcher's header against Chelsea from a couple seasons back. No way he meant it to do that. Ronaldo's freekick goal? Take that away, the keeper messed up. For that matter, take away all his fk goals where the ball swerved, we can't be certain he meant them to do what they did.
