Friday, August 8, 2008.
Kickoff at 8:15pm GMT, 3:15pm ET.
Television: SkySports2 in the UK, ESPN360 in the US.

Sorry bout that, ColtCannon and GetEmG. Haven't seen the highlights of Huddersfield, but a win is always welcome, especially for the kids. Now up our first match in the annual preseason Amsterdam Tournament, hosted by Ajax. We will be reunited with DB10 for the first time since his Testimonial two seasons ago. The real thing is getting close, with the season lurking around the corner on the 16th, but more immediately, our date with Twente in Holland. I would hope Cesc gets some time in this one, and perhaps Kolo as well.

Vorder, Arsenaal!

first! hell yes. JFW scores a hatrick 3-0

JFW will probably have a couple of assists to so better make it 5-0

I heard Song is missing pre-season training because he joined up with The Cameroon Olympic squad but it's weird because he's not in the team playing against South Korea right now. If he was going to warm the bench for his Olympic NT he might as well have joined our pre-season games to strengthen his place on the first team.

Or is he injured?

^Interesting .. Thought Cameroon would definitely play him .. And will Cesc make an appearance finally this game ?! If i could watch this game, i'd keep my eye on the DM .. Hope we decide on someone before the season starts !

Good day gents. I am new to this site but love what I am learning. I want to see this game and would love to get together with some fellow Arsenal supporters and I am wondering where should I post. Thanks for the help and GO GUNNERS

I think this first match will be the one where most of the first-teamers get their run out. The reserves will likley play on Sunday due to the CL match coming up midweek. The way the kids have been playing I think Seville will get a good match. The Ajax match will be a lot of rust-shaking!!

Excited to see the Cesc back against a team that will play football.

I dont want to see eboue in the midfield but I still think it will happen.

-------Adebayor----RvP-----
Nasri--Denilson--Cesc---Theo
Clichy--Gallas--Toure--Sagna

I honestly don't think Denilson is the answer in CM but so far in preseason he has at least earned the chance to see if he and Cesc can form an effective partnership. In my opinion Diaby is about one more bad performance away from never getting a chance to play CM at Arsenal again.

Repped. Took the words right out of my finger-tips. I'm really amazed at the decline of Abou's star. I'm not saying he's rubbish, but at times his decision making and tackling skill (or lack thereof) certainly doesn't warrant a starting spot. And though I hate to say it, sometimes he just seems like a yellow or red card waiting to happen (see Eboue).

yeah i dont think diaby can do exactly what would be needed of him. it will be great watching denilson play alongside cesc

I love this starting XI.
Can't wait to see this match, should be some
incredible passing and movement without
the ball.

My Prediction: 2-1 to The Arsenal!

instead of Denilson? cuz, IMO Denilson has earned a starting spot next to Cesc for this game.

he's been playing Cesc's role in the team though.
we got that position sorted.

yeah i dont think that Denilson is the answer at DM at all, but i think he needs to be tested there with Cesc as his partner.
