There's a joke (if we're careful) in there about "Up the Arse"... ;)

Don't be so sure! "Irish" identity isn't so simple...
If your SURNAME is "Patrick," it is in most likelihood shortened from either KILPATRICK or KIRKPATRICK, names found most commonly in Ulster with Presbyterians (US "Scots-Irish" or UK "Ulster-Scots"), who are most likely to be Rangers supporters.
If it is shortened from Fitzpatrick, it is more likely to be from the more Catholic south, ergo those who are more likely to follow Celtic.
Of course, if Patrick is your first name, then none of this matters. But do know that St. Patrick was born in Scotland (near Old Kilpatrick).
My suggestion: support RANGERS! NYR Metros can back me up on this one: there is a long connection of the Patrick family - even a Kilpatrick - with the management of the NY Rangers of ice hockey.

DoctorK...
Patrick is my 1st name..the last/surnames names that are Irish are A'hern/O'hern and Kinney. I have an one Anderson and one Ralston(believe they are Scottish). A quarter of my family are Smiths...don't know if they are English or Scottish. Also Caton (supposedly from Ireland). The Smiths were DEFINATELY Protestants and the Catons were Catholic, but Caton is supposedly an English name. So don't know if they were Scots-Irish that had spelling changed, BUT there are NO Catons or any name close to that in Ireland!

Hey now, most of my Dad's side are Scottish and English Protestants. Even the Irish side has some Orangemen and a few Catholics.

If you're still looking for a team you need to support Motherwell. No, seriously. Just a great little club that needs all the support it can get. Besides, Fir Park is truly, truly unique in that the pitch is not level from touchline to touchline. One touchline is about 2 yards higher than the other. Very fun to watch home games.

Motherwell is cool, but I believe that it was Hibernian's pitch at Easter Road which was notoriously unlevel.

will I be able to see or hear any of their matches either via the Internet or on TV. That is the million dollar question.

You must resist the dark side. Plus Morton are the Renfrewshire cup champions with a 1-0 win over Skint Midden in july.
BTW Catfish, i've been told Celtic show live games online (started at the weekend apparantly) but source isn't that reliable(a mate) and i can't be bothered checking it out for myself. You can always get morton pics and vids onlins at http://tontastic.no-ip.com

Was just on tontastic there. Brings a tear to my eye how far we've come recently(check the earliest file then the champoins ones at the end of last season - what a difference!).
Morton would really be the team to support if the seeing games thing wasn't a problem. A real team on the up and one of the only good stories coming out of Scotland at the moment. New training facilities planned as well! If only other teams had our potential at the moment!
Div 3 champions, 7 points clear at the top of the 2nd, the biggest crowds outside the SPL, a 6-1 away win at league rivals Airdrie thne other week.
I was reading through this and i do think i come down a bit hard on the OF at points. Just to let you know my best friend is a gers fans and 3 of my cloesest friends are Celtic fans.
I really should stop stalling now and get on with my coursework for Uni!

All Morton home games can be heard live on the internet at http://www.gmfc.net/ £5 a game though i think. All SPL teams should be heard on http://www.bbc.co.uk/scotland/sportscotland/sportsound/

Hey everyone, can someone give me an explanation of the term "old firm"? This seems to refer to the Celtic v. Rangers rivalry, but I was wondering what it exactly means and what is the history of the term?

I don't know anything about Easter Road's pitch but for every game I've been to at Fir Park and on all the tours of the stadium the pitch is not level.

NARSA ( North American Rangers Supporters Association ) while not quite as big as it's Celtic counterpart is quite big . They have clubs all over the States and Canada .
I should also add that the NADSC is one of the fastest growing Dundee supporters clubs .
