What is going on at River? What are the fans saying in cyberspace, as I don't read their forums?

River sold some players ... got $$ from Villarreal when selling some youngsters ... signed a US$25 million contract with Adidas ...

So wtf does a private investor have to buy Salcedo and loan him to River? He is buying the player from Newells to use River as a "vidriera"? Who is getting the cut? Aguilar? Simeone?

I really don't understand the way River works its deals. How much $$ does it take to have its own resources and have a clean start without having to undersell its youngsters and loan players with little or no economic benefit in the long term?

Yes... that loan is quite strange, when it looked like River was doing everything to buy his transfer or most of it. Because what was said at first was that the investor group was going to help River to buy his transfer, not buy then loan. Probably River is in the need of money for some reason, notice that they are letting Ortega go on loan for U$S700,000 and it's Ortega we are talking about.

Ortega to Independiente Rivadavia? While it looked like Talleres wanted to get him, it seems that Ortega on his own reached a deal with the club of Mendoza, thus River's directives seem to be very mad at him because they didn't want Ortega to play in another club of Argentina, not even in a lower diviision.

That's a completely different subject.. We all know the Ortega thing is alcohol-related, not an economic subject. He refused to stay at the club if he wasn't going to play (Simeone had seperated him from the team), so the directives began offering him alternatives.

As for the topic that Vip brought up, it's ridiculous. We've been talking about this for years now, and everyone knows who much River fans hate Aguilar. Last I heard, Mussachio (considered a huge prospect for years, Passarella made him debut at 16 years of age, a solid youth NT defender, etc.) will be going to Real Madrid.... for free, in exchange for a "debt" River have with Zahavi, the Israeli businessman! Yup, not only did we give him large percentages of great players for a low price, but we also somehow ended up owing him money. Completely ridiculous.

ya the problem is that River is in debt because of Aguilar and thus they are continuously loaning players that belong to people like Zahavi. Then when they are sold, they end up seeing very little, if any of the money.

I remember last year they did an article in clarin of the values of Boca and River's squads, and they were close to the same, but then they showed the values of the players of which the teams actually own and Boca's portion was waaaaay higher.

Hopefully Pompilio doesn't follow Agular's footsteps though with all the stupid sales that he's been making

I belive they are related, evidently Simeone doesn't want to carry with his problems anymore and River's managment instead of trying to calm the things a bit they prefer to let him go, knowing the risk it could mean for Ortega(and Ortega being the idol he is for River supporters). Of course that would've been a big risk to let him go to UAE, but letting him to the leper could be the best thing for both parts since he'll have a private plaine to go back and forth to Chile like when Passarella was the coach, plus he'd also get official playtime. Regarding this, if everything is signed tomorrow Ortega could get to play the first match of the season the Saturday.
