Huge win today against league leaders SC Freiburg. :D The lone goal scored by Dario Vidosic in the 83rd minute just one minute after he came onto the pitch to sub for Boakye.

Game was evenly matched 13-12 with shots and 1-3 with shots on goal.

Vidosics goal was from outside the top of the box with Eigler getting the assist!

With these 3 points 1FCN is now in 6th place tied on points 40 with Duisberg but one goal behind on GD, 4th place FCK is one point ahead with 41 points and in 3rd place Mainz who are in a slump of late with 44 points. Furth is in second with 45 points.

No match this coming weekend due to WC qualifiers, next match is at home against Koblenz.

I guess that maybe wearing last years team jersey was lucky today, will remember to do the same on the 3rd of April against Koblenz!!

Wow, what a comeback from the Aussie Vidosic after his long-term injury! Superb goal!

2nd away win of the season just against the table leader ... so the promotion dreams are kept alive.

I'm just glad people are using this thread again! :D

Uwe, when Vidosic scored, did you look at the clock and think it was just enough time for them to give the lead back as they did in Duisburg??

I won't lie. I certainly did. But I let out of a yell of joy when the final whistle did go.

I might have thought about that ;) if I watched the game live (saw only the highlights in "Blickpunkt Sport" later on). Well, they can't be always that silly... ;)

Looks like Der Club is starting to turn it on as they make their move towards the promotion zone. Today at home they defeated Koblenz 2-0 with Mintal bagging both goals the first in the 37th minute with Boakye getting the assist. The second goal was scored from the penalty spot in the 75th minute. With todays win 1FCN jumps ahead of Duisberg and Kaiserslautern into fourth place with 43 points two points behind Furth and four points behind Mainz who defeated Duisberg today and five points behind Koblenz. Their next three matches are away at Oberhausen, at home against St. Pauli and away against Frankfurt.

Central defender and team captain Andreas Wolf also re-injured his knee during the win over Koblenz.

According to Kicker reports, he blew out his meniscus and will undergo surgery on Monday in Augsburg.

He will probably miss the rest of the season.

As far as the match goes, FCN were the better team throughout the match, but wasted far too many chances. They should have won this match 5-0, but before getting the penalty for the second goal, Koblenz nearly equalized at least twice.

From what I see of this FCN team week in and week out, if anything costs them the chance to get into first or second place, it is the fact that they waste far too many chances......

That's surely a huge handicap for the team (especially, as they had started a win series after his comeback).

I think you can't have more tough luck than Andy Wolf has this season.

The surge continues as 1FCN defeated RW Oberhausen 0-3 with goals scored by Mintal 29', Kluge 31' and Eigler in the 71st minute. More importantly the defeat at home by Furth 0-1 to relegation zone Hansa Rostock, has enabled 1FCN to move into 3rd place with 46 points :D trailing Mainz 47 pts and Freiburg 49 pts with these teams having one game at hand (they play each other in Mainz on Monday), and ahead of Furth 45 points and FCK with 42 and one game at hand. More importantly 1FCN has increased their goal differential to 17 goals which is 3 more than Furth and 8 more than KCK. Der Klub has picked up 21 out of 30 points during the second half of the season and have won their last 4 games outscoring opponents 10-0! If the season ended today 1FCN would be playing for promotion to 1st Division against Borussia M'gladbach who are third from the bottom in the Bundesliga. Der Klub's last 6 games are St Pauli at Home, FSV Frankfurt away, Ingolstadt at home, the Derby at Furth, Hansa Rostock away and the final match 1860 Munchen at home.

Would be nice 2 games (especially for Hans Meyer). ;) To be honest, I'd rather play FCN than Mainz (we often suck against them)...

I don't think it will come to that. If FCN keeps up their current form, they are going to finish first or second.

And I don't mind admitting I never saw this coming.

But I'm very happy about it! I just hope they can keep it going! :D

Some good results for Der Klub besides defeating St. Pauli 2-0 with goals from Pascal Bieler 39' and Mintal in the 64th. Boakye was red carded and will not play next week against Frankfurt. Second place Mainz tied at home against Ahlen, Kaiserslautern tied on the road today to TSV 1860, and Furth won on the road 0-1 against SV Wehen. So after 28 matches Der Klub is now in second place with 49 points, Mainz and Furth have 48 and K-town has 46 and Alemannia Aachen has 45 with 6 weeks to go.

Boakye will miss the next three matches. He was handed a three-match suspension for his straight red card.

Big weekend for 1FCN as they try to get back into the winning column after last weeks lapse against Frankfurt losing 2-1 and Mintal picking up a red card. With Mainz scoring late on the road to win 2-3 and Furth winning at home, both move ahead of Der Klub by 2 points with 51 points, and Kaiserslautern level with 1FCN with 49 points and Aachen 1 point behind.

Der Klub will be playing Sunday at home against Ingolstadt who find themselves in the relegation zone 7 points adrift from salvation. Kaiserslautern lost today 5-1 against Rostock which is good news for 1FCN. Mainz is at home against Koblenz, Furth is on the road Monday against Duisberg and Aachen is at home against Oberhausen.

The more than likely starting lineup for 1FCN will be: Schafer, Diekmeier, Maroh, Pinola, Bieler, Reinartz, Judt, Kluge, Gygax, Risse and Eigler.

Is Spiranovic still injured or just not starting?

As far as I know, he just hasn't been able to win back a roster spot since his injury back in November.

He should be fit, but the young guys are playing their hearts out. I doubt Spiranovic will see the pitch for the first team again this season.
