Good article... good to see him doing well at Hamburg, you guys must be loving it. The big man is missed by many Spurs fans and he really loves Spurs. I can just imagine us getting Hamburg in the knockout stage (if we survive the group stage)... talk about karma for Levy!

HSV 1-0 Schalke at min30

Troche scored and did a f#cking flic-flac!

Love him.

They're playing much better than I had expected so far.

1-1 FT and we certainly were unfortunate. Schalke doesn't scare me. Let's see Hoffenheim next week...

Should have won that game...
Controlled the game in the first half, only to fall asleep in the first few minutes of the second. Yet another goal against that could have been prevented. They should have clinched the game in the first, instead they gave it away in the second.

Jarolim and Trochowski looked good, Guerrero was bad.

Now, if someone could tell me who thought that it was a good idea to have Babak Rafati ref anywhere above hobby leagues, I'd really appreciate it. The guy is a joke as a ref, always has been, always will be. He definately isn't in the Bundesliga because of his past performances that's for sure. Other refs at least have some good games between screwing up, Rafati is just incompetent.

He missed some red cards, called onesided and turned football into halma. Once Schalke found out that Rafati called everything if they went down, they were dropping like flies, every little contact was enough to stop the game, it was a joke.
He fell for almost every dive and fake injury. Now I know why some teams stop doing "fair play". It's no wonder that people lose interest in that, when the other teams fake injuries to stop an attack. Jones lay on the ground in Hamburg's half, and suddenly was able to jump up and run normally once play was stopped, simply ridiculous.

Schalke players lay on the ground with "injuries" for at least 5 minutes, if not more, yet there was only 1 minute of injury time, that's simply pathetic. Injury time has to be based on what's happening on the field, period. If there was one game in recent memory which deserved more than 3 minutes of injury time, it was this one.

Totally agree with you on Rafati. I'm not exaggerating when I say he's the worst referee I've ever seen.

anyone know why isn't Jol giving Neves much of a chance to play? his not even on the bench, is he injured?

IIRC he was injured for the last match, but in general, unfortunately he still needs to adapt to the tougher and faster nature of play in the Bundesliga.

The fact that we're now in a some sort of title race doesn't make integrating new players easier. I really hope he can play a good role at least after Christmas, because we do need him.

At the moment, I see you guys, Schalke, and I believe us as the main 3 at the end of the season. I think it would help Hoffenheim if they went to UEFA next season. If they somehow make it in Champions League, they will just be a waste of space like Schalke was this year. I think you guys would actually be pretty good, you`re mostly stable bar the defense at times. Schalke needs another goalscorer and midfielder, they are up there with the rest of them.

yeah i hate how Farfan sets every goal perfectly to Kuranyi just to tap it in or a header and he almost always misses it

I fully expected Schalke to be on top or at the least second at the table at this point in the year. Their forwards and midfield looked really good on paper, at least. There's still time I guess, and I also expected Bayern to be at the summit, so I guess I really don't know anything.

Hoffenheim is only active in one competition, Leverkusen in the league + DFB cup, that will have real effects.

They need another forward whose main priority is scoring. They also need a goalscoring midfielder with some creativity. Add that, and they can challenge for the title every year and compete in Champions League and possibly go to quarters or even semis. They have potential, they just need to fix 2 big problems.

I hate teams like Hoffenheim. A team not working itself up like every usaul team, but just money being pumped into it making it artificially good.

Can't say this was unexpected...we haven't played a really convincing game all season and playing in the Uefa cup always costs league points, so it was time for a reality check. We need Thiago Neves to play a good role in order to challenge for the Champions League. Or a crisis to befall Hoffenheim and/or Leverkusen...

Next player to be bought surely will be someone young and talented who can cover for Jarolim/De Jong in CM/DM.

He doesn't get to play, nor does anyone below the age of 22...

Do you mean players under 22 don't get to play regularly??

I ask because Jerome Boateng gets to play some and he's just 20.

Or is he just the exception to the "rule?"

Is it really a HSV policy?

I really haven't followed much since Jol took the reins, so I'm asking seriously.

Thanks.
