In UC HSV should try to win without conceding 2 goals each game. :p

The defense was really atrocious, again. Thank god Friedrich made two stupid decisions today, it definately made things a lot easier.
They definately need to improve in that regard. With Jansen and Alex Silva, not to mention Boateng, it should be possible.
Would also help if de Jong plays the whole game like he did in the second half. He looked terrific in those 45 minutes, and completely gruesome in the first 45.

Perhaps Jarolim should stay a bit further back as well now that Neves (who had a decent debut game) is there instead of Pitroipa.
The team has been riding its luck but it can only improve (except if Trochowski drops in form), which is nice to know while being top of the table apparently for the first time since 1999.

0-3 down at 30 minutes...I had a bad feeling about this game, but not this bad.
Very unconcentrated performance by the team on the whole yet again.
We still need that bit of additional quality which the new signings (of whom only Silva is actually on the pitch) were intended to provide. At least 3 of the 4 should become regulars.

Jansen, what do you think of his chances and how well he could potentially do at the club?

Long time since I wrote here. ;)
I think overall Hamburg showed some descent performances so far this season. But they lack consistancy. Was the same last year, we had it in our hands to qualify for the Champions League and then blew it. I think Jol should work on this issue.

He should be able to become a regular with his talent, but his performances don't really warrant that right now. I don't know what issues he's been having for quite some time now, perhaps he needs to concentrate more on football again.

Tough loss this weekend.

Funky lineup by Jol. Too many option on offense, not all of them have gotten a true chance yet, and he brings Demel as ROM. I can understand that he had to replace Jansen because he was too tired, but there was no reason to put Demel in midfield.
Sure, the new defense needs to get accustomed to each other, but the whole defensive play has to improve as well. Being great on offense is fine, but you can't always outscore your opponent. So far the defense has been shaky, and it's not like a more offensive approach can suddenly turn a functioning defense into a mess.

Wow, Marcell Jansen is playing in the offensive midfield today.
1:0 lead at half-time in the Cup, but Bochum seems to have been the dominating team for many periods...

Why didn't Pitroipa start in that game? I see he was absent again today.

Pitroipa was thre worst player in the first few games, and with Petric and Neves arriving, there wasn't much space for him.
He's back in the rotation now, but I guess he's mostly a sub for now.
Today, Jol continued his rotation and sat Trochowski and Guerrero. Kind of funny, yesterday he was talking about how he can't really put them on the bench because they are playing too well, and today he changed his mind.
Jansen didn't have the best game today. Neves still has some trouble with the speed of the game, but did well defensively and had some nice scenes on offense as well.

Petric is getting more and more important for you. Another "Doppelpack" from him in the important UEFA Cup away match in Romania!

He's back in form. This is what he did for us last season.
Congrats. You guys got one hell of a player!

HSV 2-1 Cottbus FT
Wow, all results of this matchday were perfect (except Hoffenheim):D
Three points clear at the top, and Petric can't stop scoring.
I also thought they played a solid match today, which is good because the next three matchdays will be tougher.

I just had to push the HSV thread back to the top of the table:D
Here (http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/sport/football/premier_league/tottenham/article4882238.ece)'s a nice English article about Martin Jol and his transition from Spurs to HSV.
