I am going to the Atletico match on Wednesday. I am normally bad luck for the Blues at the Arena and would normally stay away from such an important match...but I am leaving Germany next month and this is my last chance to visit Europe's greatest football venue.

You guys need to keep a clean sheet in this game more than anything. Good luck again.

You had a couple of excellent chances against Atletico already (20'), really should have used at least one of them. On this level, it could come back to haunt you.

Hah! Pander scores a brilliant free kick! Typical Pander goal!

Schalke - Atletico 1:0 HT

Schalke looking good, dominating the match and creating quite a few chances. Should have used them better though. They should continue like this in the second half, the Atletico defence looks rather vulnerable, so a few more goals should be doable. Keeping a clean sheet will be important though.

A few minutes before Pander scored I thought to myself that Schalke look like my Bundesliga title favourites for this season.

But I'm just a random fool so don't consider it a curse.

It's still Schalke Projekt4 :D

Atletico looking better in the second half, don't bottle it now!

Schalke - Atletico 1:0 FT

Atletico was stronger in the second half, but Schalke should have scored a second goal after Atletico went down to ten men in the end of the match. Should have been more active in general, but whatever, you won the match and kept a clean sheet. Good luck in Madrid.

I have a feeling this will go down exactly like the Porto tie last season

It will be a real challenge though, especially if Agüero, their best player, is back, which is likely.

Farfan has a shoulder injury and will miss some time(1-3 month).

That's a big blow, if true. Farfan looked really good tonight I thought, a good buy, exactly what Schalke needed.

Farfan DID look good, sorry that is the last we will see of him for a while. Should have had at least one more goal, but a solid performance that gives a realistic chance to move on. Very happy to see a win in my final visit to the Arena for a long time.

Schalke should be pleased, they got a very tough draw for this qualification leg against an equally-strong opponent, and this win, without conceding a goal, means they will be the small favourites going into the return leg,

Bordon proves once again that he is the best defender in the Bundesliga..

Near flawless performance

What a pity, I just loved the way Farfan teared them apart but heŽll be back within a month I think.

So let us concentrate on H96 now..IŽd like to see us hit the ground running as the bundesliga starts, Engelaar and Farfan might be missing but that means that Rakitic and Halil might take a step forward I hope.

Let me change that to Kuranyi and Bordon taking a step forward...:D

3-0 and H96 never looked really threatening. Brilliant!"!!
