I really doubt that considering how much money you guys lost by missing out on it.
They can compensate that by going far in the UEFA Cup

A little update on the club..
Following the league win over Frankfurt we dispatched Hannover out of the DFBPokal so we are playing rather well at the moment.
The defence is looking good despite playing a kid in goal, our positional play have improved a lot recently but we still lack pace according to Rutten.
Otherwise everything is okeyish..

Damn, I can't believe to see Heiko Westermann become a 'top striker' (:-))) lately!
I know about his offensive qualities (in the Greuther Fürth youth, he even played as a striker sometimes and also scored a few 2nd league goals as RB & CB), but never thought he could play so well as a midfielder with his height & rather limited technical skills! Is that his new position at Schalke, hence?

Well, Rutten is using him in a kind of non-playmaking midfielder/defender role with the right to go for goal instead of distributing the ball.
A role that suits him rather well I must say..

Absolutely woeful perfomance by the Royal Blues tonight. They looked tired after 3 games in 7 days. But mostly they looked like they missed Ernst. I could even see Rafinha grafting into the role of DM late.
Is Rakatic getting so little time because of his poor form or is his poor form from a lack of confidence by Rutten? Hard to tell.

50,000 fans attended this meaningless game, that's really impressive (maybe also "crazy" ;))!
Congrats on qualifying for the group stage (even though it was the team's duty).

Given that tickets are almost impossible to get at ordinary games I´m not surprised. Plenty of fans starved of live football I guess.
As for reaching the Uefa-cup group stage it is satisfying if only because that´s what we based this years budget on, everything else is a bonus actually.
We´ll never repeat the mistakes of BvB when it comes to taking things for granted as long as they still struggle to get their finances in order.

Rutten & Engelaar will be totally excited at the moment. ;) Really nice UEFA Cup group you got.

I hope Schalke won't make this an organised trip for Schalke fans as it'd be a laugh to welcome you in the Enschede city centre and all have a couple of beers together.
Mind you, we've only got 1200 tickets for Schalke fans!

Even less if the police decide they want an extra security zone! Never mind, Schalke fans can still enjoy the atmosphere in town.

Schalkefans will not make an organised trip to Enschede, it would have been ridiculous as it´s just an hour away, give me three hours headstart and a bicycle and I´ll be there before any coaches..:D
I expect a tense game but given that the hardcore fans of both clubs are "Brothers in Arms" in more ways than one I don´t expect any trouble..
As for the PSG games I´m not so sure..they got some cocky fans at times.

Great news that everybody can travel to the game independently! It would've been a bit ridiculous for Schalke fans in Ahaus and Gronau to be forced to go to Gelsenkirchen first. And Youri and Fred can sleep in on game day as they both still live here!
Btw friendly club or not, you're still going down.

Hi Schalke fans!
I am a MCFC fan and will be coming to Gelsenkirchen(sp?) to watch the UEFA cup game end of November.
I must say, there are talk of over 9,000/10,000 City fans coming over (Yes, I know we only have 2700 tickets - I have one thank god) and hopefully there will be a great party atmosphere.
How long does it take to travel from Cologne to Gelsenkirchen? We are leaving Cologne on a coach at 4pm on the day of the game. Will that be enough time to get to Gelsenkirchen for a few beers before the game?
See you in Germany!

Not really long (depends on the length of the traffic jam, if you take the car). ;)

About an hour to Gelsenkirchen (train), from there by S302
to the stadium (stop Veltins-Arena, takes 16 minutes).
By car it depends as Borussia said on traffic light, but also on general traffic (many people live in the region).
By car i would suggest using the Autbahn A3 to Duisburg/Oberhausen
and then the A2 to Gelsenkirchen-Buer, from there only a few metres
to Veltins Arena (you need a special park ticket to park directly
at the stadium).
Details (in German) about going to the Veltins Arena can be found: here (http://www.veltins-arena.de/besucher_anreise.php)

Sure, it will. The Schalke fans i know are friendly people,
who like drinking some beer.

I am looking forward to this match this weekend. I want to see more of Kuranyi; he scored a very cool goal two weeks ago.
I also sense that Martin Jol has a better feel fro Bundesliga soccer and nice to see him atop the table.
I have to find the game on the TV this weekend. Does anyone have the betting prediction?
