Pretty much everything is seen negative. Some blame Müller, some the board, some Rutten, a lot blame everybody in management and on the board and including the players for the current mess.

Bordon resigned his captaincy today, so a lot of people see him leaving in the summer and even more are agitated that Krstajic took over despite having a terrible game in Wolfsburg (as if one game were the deciding factor).

In essence nobody seems to agree with anybody on anything but one thing: Schalke is in deep, deep trouble and who knows when they will rise again.

That is the worst news for defense since he was pretty solid and worked well with westermen, pander and rafinha

While I am not excited by the prospect of Kahn joining Schalke 04, this is the direction he always felt he would follow post-retirement from playing. I would have thought Bayern would have been grooming him as the successor to Hoeness in the same capacity.

This may be Kahn's way of forcing the issue with Bayern as well. I have a feeling that we will hear something from Salber Strasse soon. This may put pressure on the Bayern board to move forward as such.

I just don't envision Kahn in a position outside of Bayerm, other than that with the DFB. I wonder where Beckanbauer and Rumminegge are in all this and what their thought pattern involves. Maybe they know Ollie better and may think he would be the proverbial "bear in a china shop" with his mentality and frankness.

Possibly the relationship with JK is damaged and unworkable based on his comments concerning JK's activities while Hitzfeld was still in charge. The preference for Lehmann over him in WC2006 couldn't of helped (still consider this a mistake and feel Die Mannschaften would have beaten Italy with him commanding the defense, no doubt what the result would have been against france-ZIEG!!!).

The man is the epitone of a winning mentality. This is sorely needed at Schalke and the "bear in a china shop" focus may be just what the Gelsenkirchen crew needs.

It would be Bayern's loss in my humble opinion.

Cheers . . . Woody

Wasn't he supposed to become the successor of Uli Hoeneß?

Apparently not, otherwise there would have been serious talks already. I'm actually surprised that Kahn seems to be interested, because a few weeks ago, asked about a possible job at Bayern, he said that he wants to concentrate on his job for German television (ZDF) for now.

According to the yellow press, manager Fred Rutten will get fired during the next days (after the home loss against HSV).

Damn, I wish he'd become Hans Meyer's successor if we manage to keep the league...

Reprieve for Fred.

Apparently, Schalke can't afford paying him a compensation at the moment...;)

As if things weren't that ********ed up anyways.

lol

Because of this, I expect Schalke to win the next game. Watch this space.

Rutten's 95% gone at the end of the season. The team just hasn't been able to gel for him and they look 100 times worse than the Schalke that qualified for the Champions League under Mirko Slomka.

Looks like Huub Stevens wants nothing to do with the Schalke Sporting Manager position:

http://www.kicker.de/news/fussball/bundesliga/startseite/artikel/506363/

Was he ever under serious consideration? While I believe his departure had more to do with Rudi Assauer's meddling (what didn't?), there must have been some ill will formed with the Schalke board as well.

Even Kahn is giving this a hard look before he takes it.

Should Kahn step away, Schalke's finances and organizational influence could come under intense scrutiny. I really don't think the problems on the field are reflective of the coach as much as ther Management offices. You've had a succession of good managers walk away or be termed after relative success such as Stevens, Rangnick, Slomka and potentially Rutten.

On the other hand, most Kicker respondents to a pole asking if Kahn is right for Schalke state no (69%). Is that more related to Kahn the potential manager or Kahn's Bayern connection?

If Kahn comes in; who would he consider to replace Rutten should the board demand such? If he decided to give him more time, would the board let hiim?

Would Kahn have the command and control he would need and surely require to do his job?

In looking at other teams, the organization that seems to have it right is Wolfsburg. Felix Magath has done a brilliant job as Sporting Director and Head Coach. Wolfgang Hotze has kept to controling the money and Magath has taken the budget given and made smart acquisitions that has put the team into the heart of the title chase. Likely a CL spot for next season.

Things that make you go Hmmmmm . . .

All actors looked and look clueless at Schalke.

Last season they fired the most sucessfull coach in their recent past and
brought a guy, that acted like something between a comedian
and a sleeping pill.

Rutten can have some clue of football, but he didn´t bring it
to the players and looked like a clown in interviews (language problems?).

We made such experience in the 90s with Aad De Mos and Felix Magath.
Sometimes it doesn´t fit.

Schalke is nothing but a "Komödienstadel" ...

With that incompetent board they won't win the championship in 100 years.

As long as Schalke needs to handle the chaotic scenes I would take care of Zambrano, Kenia and Hoewedes....in Hoffenheim !
