Some reports going around today that Dyer has broken his leg again in training. Apparently it is the same leg he broke last year, hope it's not true.

someone take him out back and put him out of his misery.
i feel for the guy, but you have to wonder about his future as a professional...

No he hasn't unfortunately he has a condition known as shin splints. It often happens when you start training again after a break. Probably be out for some time though, cause he has to start again. 2-4 months at a guess.
He's shattered poor bugger. I'm absolutely gutted as well.

This wouldn't be the same shin splints he's had for HIS ENTIRE CAREER. I have no idea how he passed a medical. I only assume he didn't have one.

The OS glosses over the problems a bit:

It certainly doesn't sound like another fracture or break though. This is the second false rumour lately about injuries, the other being Ashton who was actually "laid low by illness".
Thankfully we are not short of right sided players so the team shouldn't suffer too much without Dyer. But it must be disaapointing for him as a player to keep suffering these setbacks. I am gutted for him but I suppose two months from now isn't too long.
We also need to consider the new regime we have in place regarding injuries. The club has invested in improving our facilities in this department so no doubt the new staff will not be wanting to take any risks.

I know it sounds crazy but he would never pass a medical. He had a 2 day medical and was considered fit enough to complete a 4 year contract. Because of his history, the insurance company used independent doctors, we had our own guys watching.
Dyer will need a liver transplant when he reaches Stompers age. Something to do with jaundice as a kid i think.

I thought it was alleged hepatits? Jaundis messes with the kidneys.

No. Jaundis is the yellowing of the skin and eyes as a result of liver disease. I've seen it and it's not pretty.

i've had shin splints as a player. bone spurs around your knees? it's exactly as bad as it sounds. add that, which is a chronic condition (i played but was relegated to the bike otherwise) to a leg freshly healed from being broken in two places...poor, poor kieron. he'll have to get back to fitness as gradual as possible. i'd add a month to whatever the expected recovery time is.

Quite correct sir. I had it as a youngster. Not had any trouble so far and there have been times when I didn't treat my liver with the respect that it deserves.

Understood. The liver problems I witnessed were probably down to a similar cause.
