Hi, do you think there should be some supplementary penalty given with yellow cards? Like 5 minutes of playing with 10 men? Because a yellow card is simply a slap on the wrist with no bite to it and therefore in theory there could be 11 nasty tackles in a game, 11 yellow cards issued but essentially no advantage given to the abused side and essentially no extra "penalty" given to the violators except the free kick and the carry over of yellow cards into the next game. later,

they'll probably end up playing 8v7 at some point in time then
I thought some countries were trying this in their junior leagues. But Fifa declared it an invalid modification of the Laws of the Game, so put the clamp down on it.
Maybe the Football Board can declare this as an experimental rule.
It's done in rugby, you know. A yellow-card offense has a 10-minute penalty attached to it.
But again, MTV once had a penalty box for one of their celebrity basketball games...

I think yellow card are more than a slap on the wrists and any more punishment for a minor offense would be daft. If your a holding player, or a defender, then a yellow card actually changes the way you play your game, taking the bite out of some of your tackles for fear of red. The rules are fine the wya they are.

yellow cards are warnings. they say, "you do this again and you won't be seeing the pitch for a while". plus, most leagues have it to where if you get yellows in 2 or 3 consecutive matches, you are banned for 1 or 2 matches.

This is not a bad proposal, but you need another step.
In hockey (field hockey, that is), there is a green card which can serve as a warning not only to a player, but the entire team for the same infraction.
Yellow cards are a five-minute minimum suspension where a team plays short.
Mind you, green cards should be reserved for dissent and small things like shooting the ball after the whistle, time-wasting, etc.
Thing is, would having a green/yellow/red lower the standard for the foul tackle from the side/behind?
